2 questions re TA's

I've just completed my level 2 TA qualification i spent amazing 6 months in a school that would have quite happily given me a job if there was a job available!
However I'm now applying for jobs and my confidence seems to have left me overnight (fear of the unknown I think)
So my 2 questions are

1. What is the process for interviewing? Is it just a traditional 'talk' or are you expected to hold a lesson etc?

And
2) what are you expected to bring to the role ie should I have my own resources or is this something you would expect a new TA to build on gradually?

If you need your own resources what kind of things would you suggest? I've got an art project book and some phonics flash cards and books so far.

My resource box (that I've collected and put together myself) includes a fraction wall, percentage and decimal walls, a measuring tape (useful for rounding) a cardboard clock, some laminated cue cards with maths terminology rhymes on them, a pocket size gcse spag book, pocket dictionary, toy money, graph paper, tracing paper, marker pens and 3 calculators as there are never enough to go around. I'm in an FE college

interview was just a chat

We do formal interviews with 3 interviewers. We ask the applicant to spend time in the relevant classroom to watch their interactions with the children. It will vary hugely depending on the year group and position we are looking for (Nursery is very different from Y6 and general classroom teaching assistant is very different from intervention or additional needs TA).

I am secondary SEN. We observe a relevant activity eg support a pupil with a given piece of work and an interview with a panel of 3. We use older pupils for the activities and take their views into account. We also have lunch or break with the candidates to see what they are like with the team.

I had a TA interview for Yr6 class where I had to prepare a book and read to the whole class; I did Anne Fine's Diary of a Killer Cat, and I think the panel enjoyed it more than the children did!
