I'm currently job hunting- I have a degree and used to have a professional job but I career changed to be a TA a few years ago. The plan was always to do the pgce eventually, but a few things have put me off that lately.
I've seen a job advert for an Education Welfare Officer. It says previous experience as an EWO is not essential, just experience working with children, good listening skills, ability to deal with sensitive issues, ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies, good admin skills... The salary is twice what I used to get as a TA and as I've recently separated from H I could do with the money! I am currently a SAHM as we relocated 6 months ago for his job (bastard)
It isn't a role I have ever considered before, do you think an ex TA would be a good fit? My previous school was in quite a deprived area and I do have quite a bit of experience of working with children where there were family issues, low attendance, had to speak to social workers etc.
Any advice would be welcome!
