Should I mention my union role on applications?

I have been part of my local association's group for a number of years. I have been to the last 3 annual conferences of my union, and will be going again this year.

By chance, this year I am president of my local association's union group.

Should I mention my union connections on job applications, or will that be off putting as most Heads probably don't want a unionist?

I think I would be cautious about mentioning it early on!

unless you are applying out of area they would already know!
