What is it about teaching?

I know that I can teach. I have outstanding and good observations, I have some classes that love me and yet others that hate. Me. I have had many other jobs with no real hiccups but whenever I get a teaching job it normally ends up with me being bullied by students and staff.
I might have started a thread about this bit in two teaching jobs now I have been threatened (death threats )by students and SLT have blamed me. Saying I cannot control the classes.
There have been some classes which I can't control but equally classes which I have enthused.
I love my subject, I love young people but I do struggle with crowd control. However, my downfall is always the horrendous staffroom politics. Am I the only one that finds this? I'm thinking of becoming a secretary which is a shame but I have lost confidence.

I'm in the middle of my own job crisis so am probably not the best person to advise. But I couldn't read and run.

I do understand the question in the thread title. The sheer inconsistency of the job can be exhausting. So what are your options?

Unfortunately I think there are some teaching staff that haven't fully made the transition into adult professionalism and bullying other staff isn't uncommon. In terms of crowd control basically teaching is very difficult and controlling large numbers of people and managing their behavior is a really big ask. Teaching deserves a lot more respect than it gets really. It's tough.

I start my legal secretary diploma tomorrow! Plus im doing a bit of suplly as the course Iis flexi. If I love it, I hope to become a paralegal!

Fwiw I am ups and last 2 obs have been great - but have no confidence in it and need a way out. Feeling pretty desperate about it tbh.

I am not a teacher but work in HR with much contact with schools. No one, absolutely no one, should accept that death treats are a part of their work. Forget your bosses, threat to kill is a criminal offence so report it to the police. I think you will find your manages will suddenly take things very seriously.

Management told me that said threat came from a childand that their job was to look after the whole child. (6 ft tall strapping 15 year old child.) I resigned. This has happened now Iin 2 schools. And I have got the blame. No thannks.

The whole climate at the moment is incredibly pressured with unreasonably high expectations from the Ofsted grid being subjectively interpreted by SLT and used as a stick to beat people with.

The environment is turning toxic in many schools and kids pick up on this too. In schools where staff are undermined by colleagues, students often undermine too because they know that they can! I would strongly suggest a change of school as not everywhere is like this, though it does seem to be spreading.

I think I could be you (to a lesser extent as naice students) but the massive difference is my colleagues and SLT are helpful. It is not you, it is the school. Maybe through supply you will happen on a better school, but I think it's always a good idea to have another string to your bow.
