Help - need to teach KS2 maths and I am clueless about the 'modern' methods!

Without going into detail as I don't want to 'out' myself' I have to cover numeracy lessons and I have no idea how to even do the maths let alone teach it. The school are aware that I'm not v experienced but I don't want to say, err actually this is ALL NEW to me!
All the terminology / methods seem to have changed since 'my day'.
Number lines? Grids? Bus stops.... argh.
Can any wonderful person direct me to a website or book that clearly explains all the basics!
I have googled and can't find what I'm looking for.

Do you mind me asking approx how long you have been out of teaching and whether you've gone back full or part-time? I'm thinking about returning PT (have another job that I could do more PT from home now).
I've been out of it for 12 years.

You want the Naomi Sani book " how to do maths so your children can too".

Look at mep written by cimt at Plymouth university. Or look at old numeracy strategy as it has lots of examples.

Haylock's book helped me really understand how children 'interact' with mathematical concepts. Glad to see it's still considered a v useful read.

If you look at the visual calculation policy on the Number Fun website, it's explained in layman's terms visually. Ask for the calculation policy for your new school and it should lay it out clearly or simply. If it's not available, Lancashire Grid for Learning's calculation policy show you all the modern methods.

The school.shouldn't be putting you in this position - it isn't fair on you or the children.
