Maternity Leave

Also looking for advice on maternity leave as a teacher.

I will be 29 weeks pregnant when the summer holidays start, and 35 weeks when we go back in September. I would like to start maternity leave as of September 1st (the week we would go back). Is this ok/allowed?

You can pick any date you like :-)

It would be nice to not have to go back after the school holidays and to have in affect 10 weeks or so before the baby is due off!

Oh how lovely. I've been unlucky with my dates both times so never really got the long holiday ;) Go for it! And remember to put the first day of the summer holidays as your return so you're not too skint.

I've just done this. started my maternity leave at the start of term 6/1/14, but broke up 13/12/13 for the Christmas holidays.

You can finish your maternity leave on the last day of July term and get paid for the second summer too :)
