The questions they ask ...

Year 4 were sorting major historical landmarks into timeline order (Queen Victoria was a Roman, apparently).

After the task, one lad came to ask... "So, when were aliens invented?"

'Was Nelson Mandela the president of Jamaica?'
'No, no it was America!'

Two KS3 students.

A "Do you think you will be gay when you're a grown up?"
B "What's gay?"
A "It's when two ladies love each other!"
B "Oh yes, I think I will be!"
A "Me too!"

Two Y2 girls chatting over lunch...did make me chuckle!

Year 7: "Because Nelson Mandela died, can we watch the film with him in?"
Me: "Maybe later on, not today."
Year 7: "The one where he's God and tells the guy to make the ark?"
Me: "... Do you mean Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty?"
Year 7: walks away.

Year 7 boy came to me after a PSHE lesson because he was worried about when his periods would start. I explained very kindly that he didn't have to worry... They only come to girls.

Year R "Why are you a mum?"
I realised that they didn't understand that having children ( having given birth or adopted) made you a mum! In nearly 30 years it had never occurred to me that as adults we just assume that children understand these things.

This has made me chuckle, especially the mum one as I teach reception.
