kent test advice needed

I am in my first year of teaching year 6 (preciously year 3 and 4) and am beginning to get questions from parents about the 11 plus exam (the kent test specifically).

Are children who would be given readers/scribes during SATs and internal assessment allowed this at 11plus?

I have searched online and found a few bits on the 11+ forum about children being awarded extra time, but it is the reader/scribe that I really need info on.

My headteacher is very anti 11+ and not keen to look into this, hence asking here before I badger him anymore about it.

I am in Herts, but here parents can apply to the test administrators, with written evidence of SEN (e.g. letter from consultant) if they think the child might need to sit the test in a smaller group (DS2 did this) or need extra time.

I have never heard of a child being given a reader or a scribe for this test in Herts, but perhaps the rules are different in Kent.

In your position, I would email the test administrators and ask.

Thanks for the advice. Interesting that it is the parent that has to apply, I will have to try to find the info to forward to them.

Good idea to contact the administrators - anyone in Kent have any idea who I would contact?
