Life after teaching...

This is inspired by a couple of other threads. I am, for the first time in my career, seriously considering quitting the profession for good.
Those of you who are understandably thinking of doing the same, what other jobs do you think you might be qualified for or like to do?

Are you primary or secondary? What is your subject specialism? Life is too short to be unhappy in a job.

I'm secondary, languages. I'd love to just start something totally new, but preferably part time (I have young dc).

Have you considered an online independant secondary school ?

My son goes to this one which offers Spanish, French and Chinese (manderin). There are others which I can the links for if it's something that floats your boat.

I am dead jealous of his teachers, I teach ESL and there are days when I think about their mute and "lock text" buttons for dealing with disruptive students and go green all over.

Me too Smile

Have emailed La Jolie Ronde.

Thanks folks. I think I might be more looking for something totally non-teaching. I am truly sick and tired of it and want do do something completely different. Wondering what I can use my languages (French and German) for, which doesn't require any other specific skills or experience...

I escaped teaching to work in learning technologies. I now happily spend my time helping academics to use technology to support their teaching.

I get lunch breaks.
I get to go home on time
I can have holidays during term time
I don't work in the evenings
I do no marking

I am, however, still in education. Having a teaching background is a real bonus.

Part time jobs are available

I want to do something else. Was initially considering retraining as a pyschologist but isn't going to be practical. Would like to do something professional but not sure what!

NorthernShores · 28/11/2013 14:10

Wow the Bath job looks good! Not near me sadly but still well paid.

WhomessweetWhomes · 28/11/2013 16:20

That learning technologies thing looks interesting, although I'm not sure I'd be tech savvy enough!
