Early Years teachers' advice needed

We would like to buy a couple of tablets to use an early years app (not sure which one) to help with gathering evidence and assessment information, etc for learning journals and assessments. The schools I know that have done this are using ipads. Are there any cheaper alternatives that anyone could recommend - we could buy two that way!

Thanks

I think 2simple isn't that expensive (and has a free trial version)

Some schools use iPods rather than iPads. Bit more portable maybe and cheaper.

Would a kindle fire or nexus do the same job?

ipods are the way to go. You can pop them in your pocket easily when you go outside, take photos easily etc (I'm not sure you can take photos on a nexus).

Thanks will speak to other staff about us trying ipods.

Apple do give a discount to teachers and schools on apple products: store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/education_routing

Just read a new ipad is due out 1st November so if you can wait you may get a bargain on an older version.
