Old playground games for boys

I have a group of boys in my class who have no skills regarding how to 'play'. They are so used to being entertained that they lack imagination and the skills to develop a real game. They just play chase or power rangers (which is just chase with another name)! I have been looking for old school games which don't need resources to support like 'In and out of the dusty bluebells' and 'What's the time Mr Wolf?'. I am finding most appeal to girls and am not sure many will encourage the boys to participate. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Stick in the mud?

Traffic lights?

Do you know port starboard? Everyone is on a ship and you call out commands, like submarine, man overboard, shark etc. You can probably google it!

Google cubs / scouts games - might give you some more ideas.

Thank you, I'll google those games. I forgot about scouts and cubs! That's a good idea!

Swedish ambulance is a huge hit at Woodcraft.

Age?

British Bulldog. Ladders (if allowed!). Stringy. Dodgeball.

Thanks guys! They are KS1! I've heard no mention of ladders not being allowed. Not sure what stringy is? Or swedish ambulance?

Stringy probably has other names too. It's a version of tag - start off with one catcher. They have to hold hands with the first person they tag, and carry on, adding a third (this is the string!) when they get to 4, they split into 2 twos. Last to be caught wins, and starts off as the single catcher in the next game.
