i am a secondary mfl teacher (german and ks3 french)(i've also taught some ks3 maths) and would like to get back into teaching now that my younger daughter has started school. i have been applying for jobs since february with no success, so think i need to do supply to get a more recent reference if nothing else.

it is my understanding that i would have to pay for my own crb in order to work for a supply agency, so it seems incredibly important that i choose the right agency so that work is forthcoming once i've committed to working for them.

so how on earth do i know which agency to choose? i'm in the west midlands if anyone can offer any advice!

You can now sign up to the DBS update service, DBS is the new name for CRB and if you sign up to the update service and pay an extra £13 all the supply agencies can check the one DBS you pay for online, you have to do this within 2 weeks of getting your dbs. I've signed up to Axcis, Capita, Hays and two local agencies (N.W) but as still waiting for all the paperwork to be processed so had no work from anyone so can't really recommend

That's really interesting, thank you for that information.
