I used to work 0.71. 4 mornings, 3 afternoons. In our authority, mornings were worth 55% of a day as far as salary was concerned, and an afternoon was 45%.

Now I'm working 0.8-something. 4 full days in class, plus an extra 2 hours on another day for PPA. What am I working?

Maybe your LA HR dept would be able to tell you, or maybe your union. The maths is too complicated for me!

It's 0.89 but your hr dept will confirm it and you should get it in writing in your contract.

Assuming a 5 day working week. 4 full days is 80% so 0.8.

The remaining 2 hours on the other day need more info to clarify, as presumably they will be worked out as a percentage of a full day and you haven't said how many hours that is. For simplicity, it's 25% of a full 8 hour day so an extra 5% overall. If the working day is shorter than that then it will be slightly higher.

Thanks for the replies.

I had a word with the finance person at school and they reckon it could be as simple as 0.88, but they have told staffing at county about my hours and I should be getting an official letter soon spelling it out.
