Eek! Hmi next week!

Hmi inspection is following a requirement to improve ofsted judgement. I know I am being observed. What can I expect and what are the possible outcomes?

Don't have experience so not sure what it'll involve but wanted to wish you luck! You know the children and you know your subject(s) - you will be amazing!

When HMI cams to us he did a five minutes learning walk round school mid morning and spent the rest of the time with head and one of assistant heads, sip, chair of Govs etc looking at action plans, data and discussing the ofsted report.

However the timetable he sent in advance had lots on gaps on when we all thought he'd be spending more time in the classrooms than he actually did.

Are you primary or secondary? Am sure you will be fab!

I have just been observed by hmi. The usual, really ... they loom into your room, sit down and do whatever they do, I find it best to ignore and focus on dc. Was one inspector with HT, HT fed back to me. I think they were with me roughly 10 mins and then hung around outside for another 5. I'm sure, like Ofsted, it's luck of the draw! We were told to focus on SIP but I treated it like a normal day as far as poss
I didn't feel stressed til afterwards. Then I felt exhausted.

Thanks for the support . The pressure really is awful but treating it as a normal day is good advice. From what I understand they are supposed to be in a more supportive role than ofsted who are more judgemental. Does that sound right?

Ours was far nicer and more supportive than the two ofsted inspectors....

I didn't speak to HMI in person. Grey suit. tbh I expect very little from any of them by now, I just focus on doing my job the very best I can because the feedback seems so utterly unpredictable.
