Temporary job after temporary job :(

I can't keep doing this every year!

Just had an unsuccessful interview for a permanent position, which I am gutted about.

Handed in an application at my current school for another temporary job for next year (won't necessarily get an interview mind!)

It took a lot of effort and applications to get my current (temporary) job, and it looks like I'll be stuck on supply or temporary jobs forever :( I may be being melodramatic but that's how I feel right now!

DP and I really want to buy a house before we start TTC, but can't get a mortgage whilst I'm in a temporary job :(

And I can't cope with the stress of job applications every fucking year. I feel like I'm on some sort of mental treadmill!

Anyone else have any experience of this? Or advice on how to land that illusive permanent job??

I've been on supply since I qualified two years ago. Keep getting temp jobs that just last a term. Now I've got a year long temp job for September. I know exactly how you feel. Most people I qualified with have now completed their NQT year and I'm still trying to get periods long enough to count.

Wow. I had heard that in Scotland you got your NQT post immediately but hadn't realised things were so tough afterwards. Well done on persevering and good luck with having your own class. I'm getting my own class (from the beginning of the year own rather than half way through) in September and can't wait

OP, I totally get where you are coming from. I got my NQT in 2009 (had to leave due to unpleasant bullying head) and since then I have been doing supply, currently doing maternity cover. All I want is a permanent job.

Have an interview next week, but it is for another temporary job :( Really like the school but god I hate having to do this every year.

I just want some stability :(

It's bizarre- here in London, my school struggle to get applications in. It's been an outstanding school for the past 10 years, friendly atmosphere, lively but well behaved kids, creative curriculum. Last job nationally advertised with a tlr attracted only one candidate!!!!
