Possible jobs post-teaching

Hello all,

I'm a teacher of 5 years, (Lit-co, SLT) in a lovely little school (as opposed to the bullying hellhole I've just left.) I am also a co-director of a Community Interest Company, although realistically do not contribute much to this currently, as I no longer live near the business.

Although I love teaching and my current school, I have never intended to teach for my whole working life. Are there any ex teachers who would care to share their career moves with me? I would love to be a PGCE lecturer but am unsure what experience I would need to make the transition. Plus these don't seem to come up too frequently! I live alone and am only just keeping afloat at the moment so really couldn't afford to take a pay cut. Predictable I know.

Any comments gratefully received.

I read this post last night and had hoped to check back on it to find lots of really good suggestions of post-teaching careers! There are nine yet-I hope someone replies as I could do with some tips!

I've been teaching for 14 years (now 36) -now p/t after having had children, and the job has changed beyond belief during that time; I've just had enough. I am not sure what else I could do now though??!

an ex colleague got asked to join a teacher training course based on her links with the programme - do you have an links with PGCE providers, eg through mentoring, that you could exploit?

I left and now work in the voluntary sector. I've done a variety of projects but at the moment specialise in IAG and careers advice alongside drug intervention and offender management. I also deliver all the Equality and Diversity training for my geographical area.

In addition to that I am a qualified counsellor in private practice, offering face to face for individuals and couples, and I'm about to offer telephone counselling, having recently completed training for this model.

I handed notice in in Dec and will be leaving my part time role as class teacher at Feb Half term. I feel so relieved to be going! I'm not sure what to do when I finish, although it looks likely I'll start with some supply.
