Redundancy

I've been teaching 8 years & have just been made redundant. Whilst I'm loving having this time with my 15 month daughter I'm feeling lost & demoralised. I'm waiting for a phone call each day to do supply but have only had 1 week & a day so far. I was only aloud to start in Oct due to receiving my redundancy.
I live in NI now & primary school jobs are even fewer & far between than the rest of the UK.

Anyone else facing this or anyone got any advice. Part of the problem is I am far more expensive than NQTs that pick up all the work.

At DH's school it's the teachers that are always available last minute that get the regular supply work. He suggests popping in or ideally calling with your details. Phone and then follow up by email with your full contact details and availability. When he did cover, some years ago he went weeks with nothing from central list and then when he contacted schools suddenly he had calls.

I disagree regarding NQT's. they may be cheaper to book in advance if lessons are prepped but for teacher off sick, sudden need for a teacher experience wins hands down.

Hi, thanks for the advice, I have been round lots of schools with my CV. When moved here 7 years ago, I did the same & had to turn down work as I was booked up. I may send another email or try to make an appointment with the head teachers I didn't get to meet but met the secretary.
