I am going back to teaching after a 5 year break having my kids. I am going to be teaching a bright year 4/5 class. Thing is, everything seems to have changed and I need help. Do we still have a national numeracy and literacy strategies to work from. Where can I find the learning objectives? Also, when I trained, guided reading meant taking turns to read pages of the same book and discussing together. Then it changed to all reading quietly while I went round listening to individuals and then discussing. Am going to meet with teacher I'm covering next week and don't want to make an arse of myself!!
