TA interview Reception class

Hi everyone I'm newly joined today but have been looking on this site for quite a while.

I have a much wanted interview in a weeks time (as sadly my current contract ends in december) to work with a child in a reception class but the interview is very different to what I'm used to. All TA interviews I've ever attended have been a formal Q&A type thing however this time I need to do a basic skills test - prepare a report on a child's behaviour and progress for a SEN review and also I need to plan and prepare for a 10 minute activity to develop positional language with 6 reception children one of which has speech and language difficulties.

I really am struggling with both parts especially the activity as i haven't worked in EYFS/KS1 for a number of years. Do you have any ideas that could possibly help me out on this one? I'd really appreciate your help!

I would use a teddy to illustrate positional language. It could be put on/under/next to a chair or whatever else you decide to use. If a child has speech difficulties you will need to model the language. The children can then have a go using the teddy or, depending how things go, each other. I can't remember off the top of my head all the positional language covered in Reception but Google will know! By setting up this activity I think they're probably looking for knowledge of EYFS, rapor with the children, differentiation and being able to think on your feet and adapt quickly if things go wrong or how you extend the activity if they grasp it really quickly. Or use a puppet as you can then encourage them to talk to it using the positional language you've just taught them. Great way to find out if they've actually learned something!

Thank you ptang I've been thinking of something along those lines as well as using picture/word cards to cater for the child with S+L. Do you think that could work?
