My youngest has just started school. I got chatting to a teacher about needed to get back into working mindset and she suggested I put my name down for stand in TA work at the school.

I would like to make a go of this. As a newbie, can you give me some pointers in waht makes a good TA. What are they expected to do?

Someone who has a very calm demeanor and can distract students from poor behaviour , rather than nag at them. A sense of humours. But also keeping a distance and not being too pally. Kids love being mothered and when you remember small memorable details about their lives, like which team they support.
