Harry & Meghan

I'ts wonderful to see Harry & Meghan happy & smiling & back in the UK supporting their charities.

Regardless whether people agree or disagree with their return, like all families we may not always agree,we may even fall out for long periods of time. The important thing is finding it in our hearts to forgive while leaving bitterness in the past. Above all we must consider the unforgiving legacy we may leave behind & the children who can never be happy & fulfilled being brought up within a fueding family.

full bollocks

Oh dear. At least republicans on here can remain civil. What particular part of my post is bollocks according to you?

Again, completely twisting my post for your own argument.

Please re-read my post that you are deliberately twisting.

I said that once Catherine made her announcement declaring that she had cancer, people were supportive of her reasons for being absent.

But when Meghan is found to have had a genuine reason to go very low contact or no contact with her father, contrary to all of the hideous ranting by Piers Morgan and others berating Meghan, saying that she was a heartless neglectful daughter and that Thomas Markle was apparently a “poor frail innocent” who deserved better, posters are still coming up with reasons to be negative about Meghan because she didn’t take over from the police and investigate or, even more ludicrous, she should have apparently made a public pronouncement before TM had even been charged.

The difference in reactions is notable.

MN pps can't be held responsible for the behaviour of the British tabloid press. Nearly all posts on these threads involve a disclaimer, saying it's not Meghan's fault she has such an awful family and an allegedly criminal father. No-one's claiming that.

Yes, I feel sorry for M in this family and public situation, but she has an awful reputation for lies and manipulation and I'll be watching to see how she deals with this scenario. If she exploits it to claim victim status, or tries to blame the RF, I'll judge her.

Let's see how it develops. After all, these allegations aren't proved yet.

Actually, that's not my experience, Fairweather! But hey...

I fail to understand why the issue of Meghan's father's alleged CSA is of concern to republicans. It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether you support a monarchy or not - it's a highly embarrassing and difficult situation for Meghan, but she and H long ago stopped being working royals and were reminded of that fact a few months ago.

Can anyone explain how the TM allegations relate to the monarchy/republican debate???

100% ⬆️
I wonder whether she has been burying her head in the sand in the hopes it would never come to light and filming the handing over of the letter in the hospital may have been her insurance policy? Only idle thoughts...

They don’t and there are both real and pretend republicans here. The real ones don’t focus on H&M.

I don't know about you but if my father had been accused of this and I knew I would be asking regularly " what has happened?" . It's very simple.

Well that's you though, others might not. Doesn't make you way right or wrong nor does it make others right or wrong too.

Oh I think it does. Especially for a self proclaimed "feminist" and a couple who promoted themselves as social justice warriors.

With respect ”real” republicans are not remotely interested in titles associated with anyone, and “real” republicans hold a variety of views, and it’s not up to monarchists to dictate what they are, or how, and where, they can be shared,

So I just go about my business and public spouting of empowerment blah blah and ignore the fact that my father may be a paedophile and hope it doesn't emerge? Well that hasn't worked out so well has it ?

She hasnt ignored it though, she was told it was being investigated. There is nothing more she needed to do as the athuroties whose job it is to investigate these accusations ahould be doing their job.

I can't speak for Monarchists, not being one. I have no time for the ultra royalists like Harry and Meghan. Greedy, arrogant and mendacious. It's all about the titles and the privilege and the enjoyment of lording it over the lower classes.
As Harry continually reminds us "I'm a prince".

QueenMaiker · 26/10/2026 16:09

Personally I think the debate will hinge on whether the RF did anything to suppress the police’s normal activity such as passing the report on to the US authorities. That would be a very bad look for the firm, especially after the problems with Andrew.

I imagine all sorts of nutters make complaints and allegations against the RF and perhaps this letter just looked like it was sent by a crank? I don’t know much of the detail.

The timing was very close to her wedding and at that stage I think M was still very popular with a lot of people - certainly I remember being delighted to see a modern, successful ambitious woman of colour marrying into the stodgy British elite of the RF.

You don't know that though. All we know is that TMS has continued to live in countries where he may or may not have indulged in unsavoury practices. It is ONLY because of his son that this has been released otherwise it may have continued. They have all been complicit if it is true. She HERSELF has said YES I KNEW in the aftermath. That's why I didn't let him near my children. It's not a good look from a woman who seeks to be a social media female empowerer.

She has effectively ignored it for eight years. Yes, it is not up to her to investigate and she may well have been told that an investigation was taking place. However, you would think that, given this was her actual father and that she had been told of the investigation, she would have expected to be kept informed of any progress and made it her business to find out what was happening when she heard nothing. She would surely want to know if her father was guilty of these awful crimes or not

Maybe she did ask to be kept informed?

Maybe she has been enquiring regularly about the progress of the investigation, although, like anyone, she could not be seen to interfere with it?

Maybe she did not feel the need to inform the British press or public if she had done both of the above?

It’s not in anyone’s interest in the UK to know is it? What do you expect Meghan to do? Wear a sandwich board and parade down the main streets of Manilla, or trust the word of the authorities when they say they are investigating?

She could also have been advised by the RF to leave well alone?

Especially being tangentially linked to the RF, imagine the headlines if she was thought to be meddling? “Meghan caught using royal influence to influence police investigation”?

Of course she would want to know if her father was guilty or not,, but like anyone else, that depends on the police putting together a good enough case with good enough evidence to convince a judge or a jury. As we know with sex crimes, all of the pieces of the process don’t always hang together even when someone is guilty.

And even if a case was pursued and prosecuted, Meghan would presumably find out about the verdict at the same time as other ordinary members of the public?

It certainly isn’t complicit to stand back and let justice do its job.

If a member of my family was accused of committing a horrific crime I wouldn’t be taking any position until the investigation had been concluded and any potential case tried.

Wouldn’t most people? I wouldn’t be sounding off about it, especially if I was in the public eye, before I knew all of the facts.

Of course if the crime involved SA or paedophilia, I would in the meantime distance myself and my children from that person as a precautionary measure.

Once the investigation had been concluded, and I had listened to the evidence, and especially if no charge was forthcoming, I would then have to make my own mind up about the family member’s guilt or innocence. But as it was only my opinion, again I wouldn’t broadcast it globally, except to people in my circle who really needed to know. I would leave it to the authorities in the Philippines to do the same over there,
