A crowd has turned out to see them. It’s currently being covered live on Sky News. Why on earth would anyone do this?

They aren’t working royals. They are just a pair of chancers who have scuttled back to Britain with their tails between their legs because they have died on their arses in the US. And now people are tugging their forelocks to them here.

People really are absolute fucking morons.

And here you are, paying attention yourself.

Fair enough - but I am only paying attention today (and yesterday). There is no way I could have put that "exhausting" list together of what they have/have not done in the years.

I think the unsettling thing is people paying constant attention to people they really dislike, and waiting for, and often, hoping for their failure and or humiliation.

That is the horrible aspect of it.

Did you just innocently happen upon it while chopping carrots?

How do you know that's what people are doing if you only paid attention today and yesterday?

Wow you are full blown conspiracy theorist. It was a teenager who used one of the charities and young adults on the streets outside waiting to see them. A local main road was blocked by people trying to see them.

Oh yes, SO many people - they were mobbed, struggled to make their way through greeting everyone. FYI - the crowd on the right is press/media.

Yes, that's the usual way. It seems to happen a lot.

MadeInGrimsby · 16/10/2026 13:52

OliveMyLove · 16/10/2026 13:47

Yes and it all becomes very circular and repetitive. Is the point to derail from the topic?

Inability to develop the argument and challenge effectively? Plus just basing things on "snippets" 😂

OliveMyLove · 16/10/2026 13:53

I have family members that can quote stats of sports games that happened before they were born. Even describing actual plays in specific games.

People have various capacities to remember things.

I’m far from obsessed and go months or even years ignoring HAM. I rarely ever read a full article, however I could easily have made that list because I have a decent memory and because their PR is a shocking mess that sticks.

I have colleagues who have ptsd.

I know they’d agree that the use of the word ‘triggered’ is indeed the least of their problems and would tell you the same.

However I also know that they agree with me in that people using it in a cavalier way to shut down conversation and patronise others minimises the word used to describe their setbacks. An absolute insult to what they have endured and what they still endure.

If you experience trauma and don’t mind? Great. But if anything trauma teaches you, it will be that everyone is different. The suffering will be different. The feelings will be different. The pain will be different. What affects people will be different.

Just because the use of a word doesn’t affect some does not mean it won’t affect others.

As others have said, using words like obsessed and triggered are patronising beyond belief and on here, I think that is why those specific words are used.

I understand the reluctance to be brutally honest and to use the words you really mean because that would result in deletions or bans but dressing it up like that makes people worse than the people they accuse of the same.

Most of us here can see it. Especially when one word is seized upon out of context and thrown as a jab time and time again.

It Is everything some are accusing others of and more.

An absolute insult to what they have endured and what they still endure.

Again - this is silly. PTSD is a complex, complicated diagnosis that needs ongoing therapeutic help. I know this as I "have" it. Anyone who has it knows that the "triggered" bandied about in popular culture has precious little to with their diagnosis. They have much bigger fish to fry, and see no absolute insult.
They know because they are not bloody children.
I have spent (too much) time in group work for PTSD and the amount of time I have heard of the absolute insult of the misuse of the word triggered is exactly zero.

They should come with a warning label.

”Caution: When chopping take steps to prevent from stumbling upon Mumsnet Royal Family Forum.”

You can speak only for yourself.

Well no - we did not eat carrots yesterday...

But answering seriously - they H&m were all over the papers yesterday and the thread popped up, so I read it.

MadeInGrimsby · 16/10/2026 13:48

What?! Everyone on the right is press/media! Seriously?

Pretty much! There’s no school kids, no-one pressed up against the barriers desperate to meet the pair of them. Can’t remember who it was, but someone there reporting live online also indicated this.

TBF, even if there wasn’t a single media person there, it’s still a shite turnout 😂

AlonsoMosley · 16/10/2026 14:10

OliveMyLove · 16/10/2026 13:58

You can speak only for yourself.

You can speak only for yourself.

Absolutely fair enough! But I can include an observation from group work.

And, at least I can speak for myself; but the other poster can't then put forward her chagrin at the misuse of triggered on behalf of all PTSD sufferers !😉

Anyway - I have said more than enough about "triggered."

dulwich999 · 16/10/2026 14:12

It is silly because your experience is not mine, nor those of colleagues.

Your experience may be exactly zero. Mine is not. The experiences of my colleagues are not. If they don’t like it? Then they are permitted to be irritated by some using ‘triggered’ as a lame insult.

If you ‘have it’ and attend work groups then you should know better than to trivialise or minimise the experiences and opinions of others.

I won’t be communicating with you further because you have shown to me that you really don’t understand and that is fine.

dulwich999 · 16/10/2026 14:16

This deserves a reply as I posted just before I saw it.

Show me where I said all PTSD sufferers. I will bet you cannot.

I was at pains to say that everyone was different.

Your passive aggressive little wink face proves to me that you really don’t understand at all.

I know all I need to know about you.

OliveMyLove · 16/10/2026 14:18

AlonsoMosley · 16/10/2026 14:04

Well - like most people, I dip in and out.

You’ve called others obsessive for making judgements based on a topic they actually follow.

But you admit to making judgements based on one you say you do not actively follow.

The hypocrisy here is exhausting.

If that is the definition of a crowd these days, the Legion bingo is going to need bouncers.

What you are doing is very nasty and potentially doxing and I have reported it. There’s no need to resort to the personal when having a discussion online.

Please tell me you don’t own or frequent my nail salon.

ETA - if you own it, I will desist of course. But I cannot change my name for this thread.

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · 16/10/2026 14:45

All this talk of PTSD reminds me of H+M’s claim to have iirc “a form of PTSD” after Charles stuck with his FCO brief instead of telling off Trump for making fun of them. “Deeply triggering” to see the king prioritise the UK and put diplomacy ahead of their own grievances, apparently.

If I have made a mistake my apologies I uploaded two newspapers yesterday that had my ebay watermark which is dulwich999 on it - and then that pops up as a username !
