I agree with you. Also with today’s suites where the surround is a very good height it’s entirely feasible for someone to be in their suite and not see anyone except the crew from the time they board the aircraft till the time they get off.

I can think of 3 options, @Puzzledandpissedoff, but none of them to me is a better option for her than leaving it well alone to sink into oblivion.

Vanity Fair wanted to do a piece and insisted on including that interview: doesn't make sense, as surely the celebrity would have input into the content of the piece.

She wanted to use the opportunity to distance herself from some of the fall-out from the interview: if so, I think it will have back-fired for her.

She is still collaborating with Meghan, at least to some extent, and bringing up the concept again of her being 'silenced': less likely, I think. It wouldn't be as effective the second time, and she is risking more criticism, so there would need to be some benefit for her.

So would I, Bobbbb, but if Oprah felt the interview itself had to be hidden I'd say the chances of this are pretty small

Sensible "options", @bluegreygreen, but as you say it's also hard to see how any of them could benefit Oprah more than leaving it be

FWIW I can easily believe she's still in touch with Meghan, if only to stay in prime position for any future interviews, but I still think more will come out about this latest piece in time

I think that ship might have sailed, and has in fact sunk down into the bottom of the Marianas Trench. And then imploded. And been swallowed by a sea monster and digested in its glutinous, acidic gastric bile. And shat out into the turbulent ocean and broken down into its constituent atoms. That ship.

Yes all this! Plus, what's the point of having the same guest on your sports podcast who's just been on another similar sports podcast? Are they likely to say anything much different? Of course that's no problem for HAM as they like to simply reiterate their limited set of talking points over and over. But from a podcast point of view, it doesn't add any value.

I believe she has an anti-Monarchist agenda (like a lot of Americans who initially backed HAM). She really thought she could land a blow on the Institution.

And, she did!

Even though most of what HAM said was lies, it took the world a little while to catch up with that fact, and a few years longer for HAM to rescind the racism claim and to then go crawling back to the Monarchy.

If everything HAM had said had been true, the Monarchy would have been in real trouble and OW would have been able to claim credit for dealing it a damaging blow. As it is, she's the one who took the blow to her reputation.

She should have invested in a bit of fact-checking. And shouldn't have doctored news headlines - that dishonesty is on her alone.

There are serious rumblings about a marriage split and H being welcomed back to the RF alone. I can see some truth in this tbh

I can think of a 4th - which is always the best lens when considering the objectives and intentions of OW. It’s all about herself.

She knows that ANYTHING H&M will blow up in the media - so she is just grifting / piggybacking same as all the other SM grifters screaming to be heard - this will bring HER story to a wider audience. VF would also be in cahoots and delighted with the angle - especially the timing OW and VF would have been very clear on the H&M UK / IG trip timing - so again all synced for OW to max could PR opportunities.

I’m not even clear she is distancing herself necessarily - she’s actually pointing out what a refined nuanced journalist she is - because the criticism that she was ‘soft’ and all the ‘whaaat’ memes would have prickled her massive ego.

You know when soap stars leave for better things, and then many of them return 5 years later because their career didn’t take off as expected? This feels awfully similar, even down to the not very credible spin put on it.

1)Individual/s thinks they are bigger than the soap/institution/ensemble.
2)Individual/s has some early success but can’t maintain longevity.
3) Individual/s return to where they started, after running out of money, pretending that it was their true calling all along.

(I know there are exceptions and some soap stars genuinely break out).

I’ve heard of these rumblings but I don’t believe there will be a split anytime soon, Meghan hasn’t played all her cards yet, I think they will stay together even if they can’t stand each other, at least until the hamlets are in their teens or when William becomes King because then it’s game over and she has nothing to loose, we will then see Meghan launch her umpteenth new persona on the world, until then they will play happy families trying desperately to claw their way back onto the balcony and merch the hamlets.

So the 1.5 hours of unused ‘cutting floor’ footage - did anyone on here know about this before?? Is this new information that is now, interestingly and conveniently, ‘out there’ via the Vanity Fair piece?

Given what OW and her producer/lawyers did leave in that egregious interview, you do have to wonder wtf they decided to leave out.

How bad were some of the lies things that Meghan and Harry said that OW didn’t or couldn’t show??

Mind you, that would also demonstrate that OW knew the whole thing didn’t stand up.

Oh, now THAT'S an interesting thought. So maybe the whole OW / VF is to remind HAM that OW has the rights (presumably she would have, right?) to re-cut and broadcast that 1.5 hours if she so desires.

Although if she also desires to be in any way close to any of the RF she wouldn't do that. So maybe she realises that ship has sailed and is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench etc but wants HAM to remember that the footage is there?

If a billionaire came along I don’t think we would see Meghan for dust, but if that doesn’t happen and I very much doubt it will, she could continue as she is for some time yet, they are not in a 3 bed semi, they could stay in their McMansion and barely see each other if they wanted too, him jetting off around the globe to preach on saving the planet pretending to be a global statesman, Meghan with her portable ring light merching and grifting to her to her hearts content, Harry also spending a lot of time in the UK etc. etc. Jada and Will Smith were separated but still “together” in the eyes of the world, it’s very easy for these Hollywood types to do that. The fly in the ointment though is money, if this ANL case clears them out and there is no bail out from Daddy Warbucks she could then think there is no point in hanging around and cut her loses, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I honestly don't see a billionaire on the horizon for Meg. She would have grabbed one by now as things have been with grim in Montechitshow for a long time.
