I could be totally wrong but the statement was obviously written by someone else! But who?

DL herself?

No. That's definitely his ignorant, incendiary language

Good news, although I very much feel for the veterans.
It's entirely the HAM show.

Mark Dolan reporting this now

Perhaps they could scale back to a more modest weekend event (do they really need 9 days of HAM show? The first IG was 4 days)

Then the rest of the £26 million could be spent on things like housing adaptations or MH services for veterans

Could these veterans participate in the Warrior games or an equivalent? It would be such a shame for them to lose out? Or could Ingriftus be downsized? Get shot of HAM. Get a much more fitting rep

Or the under funded, beleaguered nhs per Harry’s suggestion in his speech today!!
( I do wonder if that pissed off the wrong people!)

Afternoon ladies.
Im too hot and tired to type much.
First - There are not a plethora of Disabled Spaces in London. What a twat. Is being a lying entitled loser classed as a disability now?
Second - he’s not ‘Royal’ anymore. He’s a private citizen whose father happens to be King. How much staff time was wasted -which we pay for- in facilitating this knob to visit ‘children in hospital’?? He’s promoting himself
Third - If the judge decides they have to pay the full costs he’s toast. I hope his father tells him to naff orf. Interestingly the case will be on his father’s 45th wedding anniversary how in all that’s holy is it 45 years? That means I’m mid fifties ffs!!

He is a complete twat blocking the disabled parking at an event meant to support disabled veterans 🙄

I love the picture - I'm sure they really needed those 2 unarmed police offers for "crowd control" 🙄🙄🙄 Just another Harry security stunt!

Really, the whole organisation seems massively bloated and poorly managed. It's not just down to Harry though he's certainly a major part of it. The estimated costs of the IG seem incredibly high given that it's a pretty modest event.

I think Invictus has peaked and it's time to wind it down or merge it with another charity or event. Maybe partner with the Paralympics or something like that? Of course, it's the last remnant of Harry's royal life and gives him some kind of pseudo 'diplomatic' status so he would be extremely reluctant to give it up.

I think it's a great shame if it's completely cancelled. What's more, dear old H will turn it around and blame the negative press he received from the UK media in the last few weeks, and the outrageous ANL outcome on detracting from his attempts to promote Invictus. So there'll be another whole load of 'It wasn't me!' coming out way.

His baldy head gives me the Mumsnet Ick. He needs to crop it right down and get rid of the weird ginger fluff on top, and neaten that beard up FFS. He has an unfortunate sort of pink scalp...must burn a lot in California.

He always looks scruffy and grubby to me. I completely agree with you @KimWexlersPonyTail , goodness knows there must be a decent barber somewhere in Monteceito?

Let him vent all he wants. There is a huge amount of money unaccounted and can only guess who is gaining from it. It's a ridiculous, inflated event. Can easily be downsized

cheezncrackers · Yesterday 18:47

Does anybody actually watch or attend the Invictus Games?

Lunde · Yesterday 18:47

binkie163 · Yesterday 18:34

I bet she wouldn't share a pay out if she won! Let's see if h actually stands by his promise. I doubt ANL feel sympathetic to her lack of money. When you shit on your staunchest supporter expect shit back.

I read that the court costs may work a bit like a student house share - that they don't have to split them equally as they are jointly responsible. They can go after the claimants with most money which is bad news for Elton, Liz and Harry!

Candleabra · Yesterday 18:47

I was shocked at the costs involved with the IG. There was an excellent post on one of the previous threads with the conclusion that a huge proportion of the millions would be spent on HandM expenses. It didn’t seem like good value for the participants of the games or the city of Birmingham. I was surprised it was going ahead even before the events of this week.
Now it must be a completely toxic brand.

Butteredtoast55 · Yesterday 18:49

@Starryfifty I agree it can be greatly streamlined, and there are questions to be answered around the organisation. I just think it's a shame for the participants who will have trained so hard and want to enter and compete in good faith.

Just take this trip for example.

1st class flights from LA, several nights accommodation in a luxury hotel, security, chauffeur driven cars. Presumably Invictus will be picking up the bill?

And that's just for a silly 'one year to go' thing. Not even the games themselves. And no Meghan and her multiple outfit changes either. Huge waste of money for a relatively minor charity.

I’m sure that will be his narrative but he’s used up his credibility (and then some).

All he is inviting is more scrutiny of the costs of IG and where the money is actually spent.

It is surprising to me that this has not attracted more investigation to date.

I think it’s fair to say there are a number of journalists employed by ANL who’d be happy to do some research….

BemusedAmerican · Yesterday 18:57

He could always raise money with an auction of Diana memorabilia. I'm sure Meghan will sell her jewelry to keep the family out of bankruptsy.

When Ingriftus stared it ran for 4 days really cheaply
-£500K from William, Catherine and Harry's foundation
-£500K from the Treasury using banking fines
-approx £500K from the Mayor of London - mostly waiving rental fees for the venues and staffing using the 2012 post Olympic legacy fund
-some corporate sponsorship from Jaguar Landrover

However after Meghan got involved - costs spiralled with the most recent Canadian Games costing $63 million. Even with this huge budget competitors were not insured and participants are funded by their national teams not IG

For comparison the US Warrior Games has a budget of £5-10 million and is completely free

Where are all the H+M fans?

Shall we predict their next suspiciously-similar-but-definitely-not-coordinated lines?

I am going to say that William will be to blame. He has used his position to influence the judge, Charles, RAVEC, the press and Invictus because

he is jealous of Harry
his wife is jealous of Harry’s wife
they are both racists
William would do anything to stop Meghan coming over because he knows she is more popular than Catherine
he cannot bear them to be compared because Meghan is so much hotter
William could not allow A+L to come over and meet Charles because he knows A+L would be more popular than his kids
William is angry
William is petty
William is a bully who bosses Charles around
Charles was desperate to see Harry but William wouldn’t allow it
the Wales children were desperate to meet their cousins but William wouldn’t allow it
no wonder Harry left and well done him for protecting his family from such a bully

and simultaneously maybe

William is trying to bankrupt Harry so that H+M are forced to come back even though they don’t want to, because he can’t manage by himself and needs them so badly

William is using security to manipulate H+M into returning

William is a Trump supporter because he’s friends with Taylor Swift and one of her in laws voted for Trump (I think?)

William loves Andrew

I wonder what SF thinks of all this- I can't imagine she can readily afford it either.

The 'protective' of DL is all a bit 'make sure she (TLQ) has the right people around her' as in all words and no action.

And VERY patronizing considering DL is a baroness in the House of Lords.

canklesmctacotits · Yesterday 19:23

When you take a step back and look at what Harry wanted for this week (pseudo working royal/charitable appearances on his home turf garnering favourable press which he could pretty much make happen via his WhatsApp group journos, meeting his dad, kids meeting their grandad, armed security - basically the half-in he always wanted, plus victory in the ANL case) versus what he got (humiliation in court, no security, no reunions, no charitable appearances of note, eviscerated in the press, pissed off wife, no lodging, hefty legal bill), however and whoever was involved, it has to be said that the RF come out of this net winners and HAM massively net losers. The difference between fact and fantasy is total.

If Harry hasn’t understood yet that he and his family are OUT, hopefully he will when he gets home and someone (Meghan probably) points out to his deluded little mind that no stronger a message could have been given than what he got this week. Every single quarter - courts, MPs, media, family, public - has turned him away. The only people who have been there for him are people who might gain from doing so. And that’s the sorry state of affairs the whole of the rest of his life will be if he doesn’t take time out and reform.

Yes. Complete absence of the 'stalwarts'.

I've ventured timidly into a few Sugar lairs and my goodness, it's full batshit crazy in there. Poor lickle Harry is the victim of a sophisticated conspiracy comprising RAVEC, the Bridish meeja (naturally!), the courts of law and of course, the King himself. And William. Never forget William.

They all thought Harry was right in calling it a 'whitewash' because Justice Nicklin had previously acted in defence of other newspaper groups. Yeah, that's what defamation specialists do, isn't it? If there was such a conflict of interest why didn't Sherborne try to have him replaced? Because he knew there was no such conflict and that Judges do tend to have worked on more than one case in their careers.

Absolute nutters. But this is the state of Sussex fandom. It's impossible to be a reasonable person and support these two these days.

I agree, but Meghan is as delusional as he is.

Speaking of Meghan, not a word from her these past few days? Not a flutter of flower sprinkles or a glimpse of the backs of her children's heads?
