Here’s the article in archive
https://archive.ph/xhxQX

This happens every year: the summer reunion stories.

MyAutumnCrow · Yesterday 18:13

I’ve never heard of Mitya Underwood ‘Senior Celebrity & Royal Writer’! So she’s repeating what Ingrid Seward says the King could do.

Yes well he could fly to the moon, love.

Wonderful commitment to the cause @RecoIIectionsMayVary !!

They look like they are meant to be sandwiched together with cream an fruit, more like a strawberry shortcake. Which does contain cream and egg:

www.nigella.com/recipes/strawberry-shortcakes

Do you think she’s got her scones mixed up with her shortbread packet mix ingredients list?

Well quite! It’s absurd, and these stories happen every single year as the real royals count down towards their summer disappearance. I cannot see any prospect of those children coming over to Scotland for the holidays, let alone their mother.

What sort of flour did you opt for @RecoIIectionsMayVary ?

Incredible commitment to the cause, I commend you! ⭐️ Unfortunately, it looks like you’ve made a load of Farley’s Rusks 😦

Oh well spotted! Maybe they need soaking in milk…

I really can’t see Meghan traipsing through the heather …

And fighting the midges followed by Tick checks at bath time. I’m not long returned from a lovely week in Scotland but the ticks were a nightmare. Every day when we returned from walking we stripped off in the hallway, bunging hiking trousers and socks straight into the washing machine. Then hoovering the hall in case any had fallen to the floor and planned on reattaching as we walked by. Then doing a tick check on each other, tweezers at the ready., before diving in the shower. My younger DD seemed particularly popular with them. And I hoovered DH’s hairy chest one day as there were suspicious dark specks in there which disappeared up the hoover. We all had to pick off at least a couple over the week.
On the day we left it was the first day the wind dropped, the loch beneath the house was like a mirror, so beautiful. But as soon as we headed out to pack up the car the midges swarmed.
Not really Meghan’s thing I’m sure.

Also I believe there is likely a real aversion to giving M the opportunity to poke around and photograph what remains the Late Queen’s beloved private home, as well of course as their own private home. I wouldn’t let her near a dog kennel with a phone in her hand. Nothing is out of bounds for her, everything has potential for publicity and marching.

A bit like Rachel with the trifle recipe?

AFAIK the jeep ride was organised by the Jamaican military (they were inspecting graduating troops).

Do you offend your hosts by refusing their suggestion? It could easily have been spun in a very positive way. I'm not sure the SS would be as successful if they tried the same SM spin now.

I remember the same and agree they wouldn't have wanted to offend their hosts. Going forward though I'll bet their advance teams look at ideas like that a Little differently and tactfully steer things away.

MrsLeonFarrell · Yesterday 18:52

RecoIIectionsMayVary · Yesterday 17:00

Right, they are very unscone like. But looking at her IG look how flat they are- that isn't half a scone, it is a whole scone.

On there own they are somehow dry in the mouth, yet claggy.

I'm going to make one with 'raw cream' later, I can see that they would be ok with Jam and Cream but still more of a biscuit and not a scone.

This is the recipe I normally use

500g plain flour
15g baking powder
pinch of salt
100g caster sugar
100g diced butter
250ml milk
1 egg

It does make me wonder if Meghan actually knows what a scone should look like. (Hint, in case she's reading this, you shouldn't have to pick bits off dead flowers out of your teeth)

Justdancevance · Yesterday 19:00

I seem to have missed all the scone action on her IG.

noonames · Yesterday 19:00

Even if they do get invited to Balmoral, and they do accept, there’s no way they would last any time at all without some terrible, imagined slight setting off their enormous capacity for offence and indignation. Archie’s bedroom will be smaller than the one George stays in, or there will jam for breakfast and Meghan will be insulted by that, or there will be more photos of the Waleses on the piano than the Sussexes, or they won’t make enough fuss of Meghan on Labor Day. There is bound to be something to complain about and it’s unimaginable that they would have the manners to just smile and be gracious and get through it.

That’s leaving aside any attempts to actually discuss what’s happened with a view to reconciliation. Remember these are people who think the RF owe them an apology, who think Meghan was the face of the RF and Harry is still a working royal, who think Charles should have set aside the interests of the UK and used his state visit for their benefit instead. It’s hard to see that they could handle any discussion where the other side reflects reality.

When you say ‘missed’, I think you should comfort yourself by using ‘avoided’ instead.

It’s also not a hideous looking serum burger with additional guinea pig food … 🤮 when did honey and clotted cream ever go together?!

I think the bits of flower in that photo look like desiccated slugs

autocarrot on overdrive today 🙄

The scone cook a-long reminds me of Tattle's threads on Jack Monroe where posters volunteered for tribute to cook her recipes as per her instructions. The results revealed miserly portions, poor taste levels, failure to actually cook. The heartbreaking aspect was that if her intended audience followed her advice, they'd be wasting money, time and resources. I think the posters made donations to anti poverty organisations to off-set. JM was and is one of the worst grifters. Am not even sure if As Ever holds a child scented candle to her

I did think the honey was odd on scones but i assumed that was what some people ate with them.

OMG - was that the "Slop along"?

I remember some disgusting recipes that started with putting onion and garlic in a cold frying pan and pouring cold oil over! 🤐

There was jam on it as well ... cream, jam, cream, honey, flowers sprinkles and then the other half of the scone as though it was a burger bun!

You can just tell she doesn’t eat any of this herself.

in many ways that’s so much the irony of the whole thing, lots of her products are sugary, fatty - nothing wrong at all with that but no chance she’s going anywhere near food like that as part of her diet. It’s all so fake.

BasiliskStare · Yesterday 21:43

You see I don't mind M trying to make a lifestyle business. I truly hope they can find a way to pay their own bills. However I think she has fallen between two stools 1) copying the Duchy Originals or indeed the Marchioness of Bath , and 2) trying to be Dolly Parton (am I right there? ) with her inexpensive supermarket pancake mixes etc.

She is (IMHO ) no longer royal enough to sell at a price she wants with the products she has , and nor has she the business acumen or backing to diversify and sell in huge numbers.

Maybe clothes will work better for her , because , to be fair she can look nice with certain clothes. & she can, but I thought As Ever wan't given a licence for clothes . I'm not sure getting a percentage on the clothes she merches when out and about will cover all the bills.. I've said before though , given the big deals have fallen through , it wouldn't surprise me if she has invested in some companies which might pay off , As ever , Harry's ( preposterous to me ) $1m p.a from Better up - they're trying to get a few income streams which will add up .
I don't know , I don't live in that world , just a view.

StartupRepair · Yesterday 21:56

Even if they sign an NDA any Balmoral visit will be followed by years of 'when we spend time with the King, my husband's father.' Look out for a new Scottish division of As Ever. I imagine the shortbread will be memorable.

I think you do have a point here. So , IIRC H&M didn't like being M excluded from the "Sandringham Summit" meeting KC , W. , H and HLMTQ. She wanted to join by zoom. & I think according to Bower ( I may be wrong there - happy to be corrected ) the RF didn't trust her not to have someone in the background recording the discussion.

Also IIRC HLMTQ was happy to have photos but not for the 2 Lillibets to be an official photo.

They wanted to take ‘their own’ photographer ( I’m pretty sure it was Misan Harriman (sp?) who is currently doing a terrible job of the South Bank Center) to the meeting between the 4 of them and QEII.
They were firmly told NO which shows how little trust exsisted at that point. That was the last meeting of Meghan and Queen.
Meghan has never been to Balmoral and frankly I think the RF wnt to keep it that way.
I can’t see them being invited there. It’s a huge leap from total estrangement to living together for a week - even in a large place.
I also think William would put his foot down and give the King an ultimatum if he tried to re introduce H&M to royal life -even their private one.
I also believe that as much as The King might love Harry - he loves Camilla, William , Catherine and the Wales children more,
Theres just no comparison really is there? He will never choose Harry over Camilla. - and loath as I am to say it - l agree . Camilla has never ever betrayed him or any member of the rf by blabbing or trying to make money.
