PR disasters of Meghan and Harry.

Left off at the last page with Meg selling candles to people who want to know what her young children smell like. She’s also using the kids full titles in the press release….just for a dash of extra exploitation.

As you were

Also, Beckhams are likeable (I'm not a fan) but VB can take the piss out of herself and like the Kardashians, they play the game

The rest of the Senior royals were at a series of events focused on the late Queen, members of her favourites charities and those who are also 100. Harry told the world he sent flowers.

With everything he does he shows that he really does not understand service which turns outwards to others, only good deeds that centre his own efforts.

He obviously wasn’t invited then to the event / celebration as he would have rocked up to be front and centre - so as he was excluded he had to issue a press release to announce he sent flowers to his dead grandmother!! Where did these flowers go ? To her grave vault ? Was anybody there?

If IRC MM also issued a PR to announce the flowers she sent to PP funeral - from the woman who blasted his family on OW in the preceding weeks whilst he was on this death bed! So disingenuous.

I actually think the RF 100 birthday celebration was totally weird for a dead person - who does that IRL? Bizarre and creepy.

Edited

I think it would be weird for a family member but famous people's landmark birthdays do get commemorated after they have died so from that angle it is just what happens.

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 14:46

There have been quite a few events over the years to commemorate centenaries of important people, e.g concerts held in memory of musicians.

In this case you have an event commemorating a global figure who died relatively recently, primarily focused on charities she supported, and also celebrating the birthdays of centenarians who were actually present (hence the 'birthday celebration').

I see it more as celebrating a centenary, i.e. a hundred years since QEII was born rather than her 100th birthday (written down, I'm not sure this makes sense but it did when I thought it!).

BigWillyLittleTodger · Yesterday 14:34

Even if she had never met or married David Beckham she would still be a multi millionaire who was part of the biggest selling girl group in history, so yes successful in her own right, not cool to try and diminish what she achieved on her own.

Fair enough - she WAS successful in her own right with the SGs. Her fashion ‘business’ is a fantasy hobby sham - like her marriage.

I haven’t seen that before - do you have any examples?

FallenNight · Yesterday 14:53

@rincoe there were several events for what would have been Jane Austen's 250th Birthday last year.

There is a birthday parade for Shakespeare every year apparently.

That's just two examples I can think of from an area I am interested in. Literature.

There may well be celebrations for major anniversaries of famous composers, musicians, actors?

Just google, the list of famous dead people whose birthdays are celebrated is endless.

No she still is successful and earns an independent fortune

Victoria Beckham still makes a significant amount of money from the Spice Girls, despite not performing with the group since 2012.
As of 2024 and early 2025, she continues to profit from her pop legacy through royalties and brand partnerships.
Key Details on Her Earnings:

  • Recent Earnings: In 2024 alone, Victoria reportedly made over £1.7 million from her music career, mostly through royalties from the Spice Girls' back catalogue and her 2001 solo album.
  • Spice Girls Ltd: She owns a 20% stake in the band's company, Spice Girls Ltd. Newly filed accounts in 2025 showed that even without new tours, the company makes substantial profits—including around £18,600 for her in recent dividends from, among other sources, the reissue of their debut album and use of their music in advertisements.
  • Merchandising and Royalties: Victoria earned an estimated £1 million from the 2019 Spice World reunion tour and subsequent licensing deals, despite not joining the tour.
  • Ongoing Value: Her company, Moody Productions Ltd—founded in 1997 to manage her music royalties—continues to hold millions in assets

Anyway sorry folks for deviating off the thread topic! Back to Harry and Meghan!

VB as a Spice Girl was more successful than DB when they met. He very much pursued her. So whilst her fashion business may not be as successful as it looks, she didn’t come to the party empty handed.

Also to add while the RTW part of her company has been a bit touch & go, her make up range has gone through the roof, so she's seemingly finally found her feet

No arguments about the debt though, it's eyewatering but as you said she was the one with the money when they first got together, she bought their massive "Beckingham Palace" home way back when

Rhaidimiddim · Yesterday 16:14

VB very savvy. I'd say, even without David, she'd be hugely successful

And David probably less so without her savvy.

Why do you say that ? Because he had an affair ? There are many couples in this situation and I would describe their marriage as a sham.

Coming very soon from A Sever: candle 214.

BasiliskStare · Yesterday 16:39

😂 Even they wouldn't dare Ida. (please say they wouldn't ) But if they did it would be 421 I suspect. No holding with fusty old British date conventions for them.

Maybe he ordered the Bloom & Wild letterbox flowers online, the £23 bargain bunch with the twigs, and he had them sent to 'dead gangan, the grave, c/o Pa at Windsor Castle, England'.

Part of me assumes this is just today's tabloid spin, but it would be lovely to see the Edinburghs get more recognition - it's well overdue.

I never buy from any celebrity range for anything as a matter of principle. As I said to the daughter (who to my annoyance bought something Kardashian branded) “If you saw them in the street would you give them £20 and say “There, you need it more than me”?”
However I was in Space NK, just browsing, and saw a bronzer compact that caught my eye. Lovely compact, very heavy and solid feeling. Closed it to find VB branding on the lid. Costs about £60 something too. So no, I wouldn’t buy it but have to grudgingly admit it’s nice.

Long overdue and would be a very positive development. I’m not sure how matey they are given the difference in their ages. But as a working relationship it seems to work well because everybody knows the rules and there’s no jostling for position.

You're right about the date format. I think she would dare. It's no more audacious than taking the name Lilibet. Less audacious, even.

That is the big problem with MM’s brand. It’s expensive but not aspirational. No-one wants to be MM, whatever version of MM she’s currently living.

I have my doubts about the idea that her clothes sell out just because it’s her wearing them. Lots of things sell out when they come to people’s attention, Zara and M&S regularly have hits with items that get picked up in SM and go viral.

I think the Oz trip has given her clothes extensive publicity and people have seen items they like. They would have liked them just as much on anyone else.
