BBC news, for those that can’t remember why Dr Sophie spoke out

‘In a separate interview with Sky News, external, Dr Chandauka was sharply critical of the way in which Prince Harry resigned.
She said the only reason she was speaking up is because the duke this week "authorised the release of a damaging piece of news to the outside world without informing me or my country directors, or my executive director".
"And can you imagine what that attack has done for me, on me and the 540 individuals in the Sentebale organisations and their family?" she said.’

The damaging piece of news being that he resigned, was he not entitled to putting that out there

Rhaidimiddim · 10/04/2026 20:37

YourBreezyPanda · 10/04/2026 20:26

Right she went on SKY and made accusations against Harry who responded with two statements at most,

Now there might be behind the scenes machinations we aren’t aware of, so maybe there’s more to it

My recollection was that H and his old boys put out a statement first.

Putting out a measured statement is not libel or defamation- he stepped down from a charity and announced it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Ah, so Harry did go on attack publicly first. Thanks for confirming that.

YourBreezyPanda · 10/04/2026 20:41

Harry has made no new comment.

Sophie called Harry’s brand toxic, true as that may be- has Harry said anything similar about Sophie?

YourBreezyPanda · 10/04/2026 20:42

Rhaidimiddim · 10/04/2026 20:40

But I’ve seen no attack from Harry, Sophie called it an attack but it was a factual statement 🤷🏽‍♀️

she on the other hand has branded Harry a bully and toxic

She wouldn’t be the first.

I’m not arguing whether that’s true or not, I’m asking to see what Harry attacked Sophie with, other than saying he was stepping down. Genuinely,

Rhaidimiddim · 10/04/2026 20:46

And we have the script.

"Harry didn't go first. Oh, and if he did, he didn't say anything horrid about Dr Sophie."

Meanwhile, Bower goes into great detail into how badly H and co were maligning Dr S to anyone that mattered, and trying to manoevre her out. Partly because she commissioned independent analysis that showed just how toxic H's brand was for potential donors.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 10/04/2026 20:50

Anyone who publicly maligns the family of his terminally ill grandfather while he’s dying in hospital is toxic and a bully - we don’t need Dr Sophie to confirm his nature

Rhaidimiddim · 10/04/2026 20:35

It'd be interesting to see what evidence she can give the court that she was targeted by the Sussex Squad. I wonder if she has a handle on how they are organised and paid.

l’d be interested too. Didn’t Sophie have to leave her socials because of relentless cyber bullying?

I have always found it a bit odd that the SS attack MSM so much. MSM has much higher editorial responsibilities than randoms on social media especially post Leveson. Whatever people think about MSM it has Ofcom regulations unlike people who publish on YouTube. This is just general observation.

now we’re talking this is the kind of stuff I expect to see in the lawsuit, thank you

the matter on hand is between the charity and H, if there were manoeuvres behind the scenes, it should be exposed ‼️

bluegreygreen · 10/04/2026 20:54

My recollection is that Dr Chandauka had reported the charity to the Charity Commission in Feb 2025, without any publicity, due to concerns about governance, and it was Harry who made public statements first.

I have also just remembered that when Sentebale released its last annual accounts, the Trustees also released a report entitled 'Public Interest Disclosure Addressing Disinformation'. I wonder if this forms at least some of basis on which they have brought action?

AtIusvue · 10/04/2026 20:54

Harry resigned making it known he seen Dr Sophie as a problem and the reason why he was resigning. He also stated he wanted the CC to investigate.

He didn’t just resign….he did it to try and push Sophie out.

No, we don't

But it will be great to see her nail BULLY to his forehead in a court of law.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 10/04/2026 20:58

Give it 5 minutes and Harry will be along with his counter claim
He won’t be able to resist
How dare they

He resigned in exactly the way I said. Outlining the reasons why he left and targeted Sophie as the cause. Makes no difference if others resigned. It’s what he said in his public statement and that is what Sophie will see as damaging.

That and then the Times article stating she mismanaged funds.

It is Sentebale taking action against Harry. They are therefore claiming that he has libelled the charity, not that he libelled the chair.

Both sides seem to have issued statements pretty much simultaneously. I have no idea which statement was issued first. But Harry's statement simply alleges that the relationship between the trustees and the chair had broken down beyond repair. It does not say anything directly negative about her. The fact that the rest of the trustees all stood down at the same time suggests that the relationship had indeed broken down. In any event, that is a matter of opinion so unlikely to give rise to a successful claim for defamation.

Bower's reporting is not always reliable and, on its own, is not enough to support a defamation case.

I am not a spokesperson for Harry or anyone else. My only role on threads like this is to consider the legalities of the situation. Right now, I am struggling to see that Sentebale have a case, but I don't know exactly what they are alleging or what evidence they have to support their allegations. It may be that they do indeed have a case. We shall see.
