My copy of Tom Bower's new book "Betrayal" has transported itself on to my Kindle . Just started it.
A thread for those reading for discussion if anyone is interested.
All opinions welcome , but no spitting , no fighting 😂

Didn't Harold trumpet a personal donation of £1.1m to Children In Need not so long ago? And much further back a substantial donation to Sentebale from his Waaagh rakings?

Will be interesting to see if he's minded to dig deep in the personal coffers this time round.

He did. He can't seem to do anything without telling the media he despises, it's weird.

My opinion , I think the days of significant personal contributions are over . Yes I think H gave a big donation from Spare but that was in the glory days when they were being showered with money.

I agree with @zurigo also - if Tom Bowers is to be believed H&M hinted at ( probably via Archewell , can't remember ) low $million donations and they ended up being $ four figures - sorry if I have that wrong but it was a world away from what had been expected.

I think the glory days Sentebale donation was probably not so much a surprise (what did happen to that four book deal?) but the CIN bung was much more left field when set against the persistent rumours of draining finances.

I'm not sure it achieved of what I assume were its presumed aims of restoring some kind of credibility to Harold's philanthropic posturing but I agree we're not going to see much more delving into the personal coffers.

I imagine it was an offload for tax purposes.

Meghan could make a small fortune from jilting Harry and writing a tell-all book, then selling the tv rights to it.

Meghan will be determined to hang on to her title so if there is a divorce I am pretty sure any agreement involving money and titles will have very strict conditions attached .
Plus would anyone believe her ?

And I expect that is exactly what she will
do when she judges that H is no longer necessary for her brand. That and pimp out the children as much as she can.

Yeah, she could, but it's all short-term isn't it, like dissing the RF when they left? You get your story out there, get all the headlines and money and then it's all over and you're yesterday's news. And then she's no longer married to PH, which let's face it, is the only thing she still has to trade on. Like Fergie before her, that Duchess title is going to be doing some heavy duty lifting for the rest of MM's narcissistic life.

After the Fergie fiasco I very much doubt she will be allowed to keep her title .

Any potential small fortune (didn't she already have one from her acting career? What happened to that?) is probably dwarfed by the considerably larger one H may still command given he's saving it for the kids and may well still be being bankrolled on the sly by us Papa.

I do think though that notes for a tell-all will have been and are being compiled for an 'in the event of'.

Despite her lack of business sense she's still pretty shrewd.

This has been said of Ferg but there would undoubtedly be an audience for either.

I'd be in it 😂

Yeah, well that's the other risk isn't it! That divorcing H means that she gets stripped of her precious title - and ma'am isn't going to want that.

She would probably sell more books precisely because no one believes her - that worked well for Spare - loads of lies and controversy that spins all the debate, discussion and dissection.

Edited

Even after divorce she would keep her title unless she remarries or Harry loses it .

Mylovelygreendress · 12/04/2026 06:59

Well yes however things can change . Just ask the former Prince Andrew !

If they can strip a prince of the royal blood <snarf> they can strip an ex wife. Not counting Sarah Ferguson here, as she lost her title when Andrew was stripped of his, not before.

Believe or not, there are many people out there ready to spend significant amounts of time and energy discussing and dissecting everything Meghan does and says. This translates into revenue for those who supply the speculation.

Weird, yeah?

Same as she did to the Windsors - where she monetised family relationships, speculation and spite.
