There’s no longevity in the company if they can’t get into stores.
I can’t see how she would get into the higher end food stores though….because the brand has no story, isn’t organic etc. it’s just private label crap, sold by a fandom merching company.
Direct to consumer businesses can only survive a few years….they have to get the product to stores. Because the costs of marketing have sky rocketed the last few years. Also, having to do your own returns, shipping, customer service etc. Its expensive.
Meg will always have her super fans….but she can’t grow the company without gaining new customers…which you need to spend heavily on advertising to get. Making the business unviable unless she can get into stores.
The only way I can see that happening is if it goes to a mid level supermarket or dept stores who are more focused on the gift giving aspect rather than the food quality.
The pop stores she has used, seem completely off brand. Bookstore and homewares of Soho house….thats a bad fit. And she only got those as a favour. So it’s clear, no one is taking this product seriously. It’s just mates helping out.
If she can’t get the product to major stores in the next year….then I can’t see how the company can make a profit.
Celeb brands can create hype when direct to consumer…but the goal is to get the brand in stores ASAP. That’s when the real money is made.
