It’s a horrible case - but I have lots of evidence. This case is helping a lot as it is intrinsically linked.

Nearer the time, I will be making it more public and hope lots of people will attend. I am in regular contact with a Daily Mail journalist (who is a bit gobsmacked) and they will be present at the hearing.

I have no previous connection to the Daily Mail and was introduced by a friend who is involved with me in an environmental cause.

What I can say is this - the Daily Mail is very very conscious of how it sources its information.

I already know that this claim against them should fail - but criminal charges should be brought against Hugh Grant, Evan Harris and David Sherborne (yes, let them sue me).

Just following this case makes me inclined to agree with you!
best wishes hope you are victorious 🌹

How SH 'feels' about being accused has absolutely nothing to do with anything, it is purely a case of his statement and ANL evidence refuting it (I feel a Megan..no one asked how I feel is due from ANL) SH forgot to do the tears, did he miss the poor, distraught, tearful act prep day or did he realise that it would be a waste of time as his arse must be burning.

They have all reverted to talking about "feelings" and PH, LH, SF all did tears

bluegreygreen · 27/01/2026 16:37

I hadn't realised before that summary that SH's case doesn't even relate to any published articles by the Mail - it's all to do with him having been told by Hacked Off/Bylines about unlawful information gathering by the Mail. The article mentioned is from the Sun.

Indeed and SF is complaining about an unpublished article! , I’m assuming ( perhaps naively) that they actually have real evidence apart from feelings and someone else told me!

This January 5th article from the Press Gazette delves into the rather murky tactics and overlapping roles of the Byline Times which is used as the claimants' "discovery" date and Byline Investigates and Hacked Off who are acting as researchers for the claimants

It's almost like they are manufacturing their own evidence that they then report on as "journalists"

I'm not sure that article says much for Amol Rajan's professionalism either

I'm not understanding the purpose of the whole team tear shedding. There isn't a audience jury to play to for the sympathy vote, it's a well respected judge who will be all about the facts in front of him, not the 'feelz'.
Very interested to see how this all plays out.

I could understand if it was being held in front of a jury, to trigger emotions and sympathy, the judge doesn't give a rats arse how they feel.

It's the same with that claim of SF relating to her ectopic pregnancy - my initial reaction was that it sounded awful - but in evidence yesterday it became clear that the DM didn't publish anything after speaking to her. So I don't know why she put it in the public domain.

binkie163 · 27/01/2026 16:58

Again thanks from me for keeping me updated, today's performance almost beggars belief.
If they lose they should get Mr white KC to represent them in a case against Sherborn and argue his advice and invoice. However I expect shyster Sherborn had them sign away their worldly goods and first born. He has been riding high for some time this could be very damaging to his reputation.

No

Seems the BBC has learned little since the Bashir scandal

Justdancevance · 27/01/2026 17:02

It’s coming across as a complete shit show by a bunch of greedy chancers who cynically roped in a few useful idiots to help bolster the case or help pay the bills.

i cannot wait to hear Elton John and David Furnish’s comments on the stand.

Apparently they are giving evidence via zoom!

Lurker here really enjoying this thread!

Lunde · 27/01/2026 17:15

I think the temptation for a last big payday before claims were time-barred seems to have been too much - the symbiotic relationships between Hacked-Off, Byline News, Byline Investigation and Sherborne seems to have driven the impetus to keep the claims coming (and it's clear that they tried to get other celebrities onboard) .... and now the 2 sides have racked up costs of £38 million which will never be recovered

IIRC Prince Harry was only awarded £140,000 in damages against the Mirror when he won 15 of 33 claims (I think he asked for around £500K) - not sure how much he got in costs. Several of the claimants in that case had their claims ruled out of time and lost.

Hugh Grant defending Graham Johnson - and my response today. I wonder if it will be taken down 🤔

bluegreygreen · 27/01/2026 17:25

I think you're right, @Lunde, having read that Spectator article - I suspect it was the combination between the time pressure and the desire to go after the Mail because no-one else had.

Oh wow! , obviously you have proof of this , is this what you sent to the lawyer on this case?

He makes me sick to my stomach when he says ‘those on the other side seeking to stop the truth coming out’.

About 20 years ago, he was my favourite actor - obviously now I despise him.

This would make a great movie.

’Hurt feelings’, emotional distress etc would form part of the settlement if the claims are successful.

JSMill · 27/01/2026 17:50

This is a really interesting case. IMHO there’s a lot of fibbing going on.

chunkyBoo · 27/01/2026 18:15

It’s very murky!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/01/2026 18:35

Thanks once again to @bluegreygreen, @jeffgoldblum and everyone else for the continued updates - I'm now dipping in from Miami so they're even more appreciated

To this lay person it appears to be becoming more of a mess with each passing day ... surely the judge won't buy that any of the claimants so far "didn't know" before the relevant date, just because they insist they "weren't interested / didn't talk about it / weren't told??

I know none of us are in court, but from reports it seems a small child could be more convincing than this Confused
