To answer questions. Can they make him go if he refuses? I’m assuming not and he just won’t go?

Thanks for the link. I’ll read it when I get up. Good to see the 218 signature is in sight.

Jack - grandson of ‘Jack’

totally off topic, but I read Jack Schlossberg, grandson of President John F Kennedy has announced his run for the US House next year.

John F Kennedy’s grandson Jack Schlossberg announces run for US House seat

Schlossberg has drummed up a large following on social media with frequent posts weighing in on national issues

I have just listened to Andrew lownies talk at Cambridge university (I haven't read the book)
He talked without notes just a stream of photos as prompts. He answered questions directly no waffle. He makes a very solid case regarding sexual accusations and the dodgy finances. I know he has done the talk show circuit and YouTubers, I agree with @MrsLeonFarrell I think occasionally he has over stepped but I am a little shocked how little traction the accusations have got. Does he have to commit murder to get ostracized.
Personally I am disgusted by Andrew, SF and the extended family who must have known what was going on. Extremely disappointed with the late queen her reputation is tarnished.
The never explain certainly works at squashing interest by giving no oxygen. Just goes to show how easy it is to get away with anything even when it is in the public domain.
A pp said few weeks back if HMRC ever decide to have a chat with me, I will just guffaw and say I will drop my titles!! As that is a guaranteed get out of jail card.

I can’t link atm for some reason but recommend you also watch the You Tube Andrew Lownie interview 4 days ago on Throw the Book at Them with James Fairclough. Some of the content has already been covered, but there is some new information in there, about proof of bribery for example, which is mind boggling.

I am also shocked at how little traction the accusations have got. It demonstrates that the power and influence of the RF to suppress unpleasant revelations is still very much intact.

It is going to be interesting to see how many dead cats Trump can find to distract from the Epstein files. Andrew isn't really effective anymore, being more of a cremated cat now, but the BBC case might work in the short term. Trump's problem is that he ran on releasing the files and built his base on Q anon believers. I'm not sure even he can wriggle out of this one.

?? It’s hardly inherited.

binkie163 · 13/11/2025 07:10

@Thetruthisoutfinally thank you I will give it a listen. I was impressed by his encyclopedic knowledge, he just knew his stuff. He explained why a lot was not in the book but he explains exactly where and from whom the information came from.
My grandad who I adored was a guard at BP and once retired was like everyone else invited to garden parties alternate years. I went to one with him as a small child, I was awe struck that the queen knew my grandad! She addressed him by his first name. I always admired the queen and Ann but not the rest of the rabble.
If there were a few sordid situations I could believe it was brushed over but lownies catalogue listing decades of hideous behaviour, I now cannot believe for a moment the queen didn't know and chose to do nothing. Deeply disappointing.

@binkie163

I can imagine that was disappointing given you have some history with the RF and QE2.

I was once very pro Monarchy but it was a drip drip with me, no one big occurrence but lots of little ones over a long period, and almost now, I feel vindicated with my unease about them. As I was a bit of a lone wolf in my wider family and friends.

Although my adult DCs have no time for any of them, and that is not my influence. !

NewAgeNewMe · 13/11/2025 08:15

My DCs used to think I’m am royalist as they didn’t understand the difference between that and a constitutional monarchist. They do now.

Tbh I’d be open to a properly thought out republic but after the Brexit fiasco I’d rather stick with the status quo. For Now.

I personally don’t think we will have a monarchy in 30 years or so.

Kennedy?
The Bush's?
Trump?

None of them 'made it' by their own efforts.

No, not directly inherited, but it is very rare to get into power unless you are born into wealth, connections and power.

Maybe equivalent to the Wars of the Roses - a number of possible kings/presidents who then fight it out between themselves.

Occasionally you get a talented outliers - Obama/ Henry VII!

Quite a high proportion of Lownie's material had already been reported in the press over the years. I think the shock factor was seeing it all gathered in one place and he did a sterling job of collating it.

I agree it's beyond impossible E2 wasn't aware of the reports.

They really, really should have walked away after she died.

Totally agree

And Lownie contacted 3,000 over years for research purposes and 250-300 responded. They were in agreement to have their names listed in the front of the book.
Well researched

As if QE2 didn't know! Course she did. Unless her courtiers tried to protect her, but given his boorish behaviour I doubt they wanted to protect him!
I bet a lot of staff are revelling in what has happened to him.

Something we agree on!
