Here's a link to the talk on YouTube: Andrew Lownie describes "Entitled" as a book about financial corruption by a senior royal.

I'm just watching this and he mentions something that I've never heard about before - it could well be common knowledge!

Apparently one of his many girlfriends, Denise Martell, lived at Royal Lodge for five years, and he's her son's godfather.

Lownie says that her son looks remarkably like Andrew! (About 31 minutes in.)

Wow! Another snippet is that on a visit to Thailand Andrew went through 40 prostitutes in 4 days! That's just after 37 minutes into the talk.

I do feel a bit sorry for B and E having this man as their father.

@QuenchedSquirrel
Thank you!
I am halfway through and having read the book, I sort of knew what to expect but hearing it from the horse's mouth is gobsmacking
It's bad bad bad. I have to go out but will comment on it all when I have finished it

So far my comment is on the pair of them is....
Grasping, greedy, entitled, nasty pair.

I don't know which one is worse.

Also Lady Boys for Andrew. Shocker. Everyone’s a hole to him. As opposed to Andrew himself, who is the arsehole no body wants.

jumpingthehighjump · 03/11/2025 15:26

What is particularly galling is how much the Queen, prince Philip tried to find jobs for him to do as he was leaving the navy. Because they all knew he was going to be completely out of control when he did leave. He'd been a nightmare within it but once he lost all those structures and rules, he was going to go full on awful

They all knew
And here we are

QuenchedSquirrel · 03/11/2025 15:31

I've got near the end and it's incredibly sad to me that Laura Burns, the woman who dug all the dirt on Andrew and who was part of the Panorama team, was ordered to give her research to Newsnight, and never received any credit for the work she did.

Apparently there was far more he could have been grilled on. And the interview would have been a lot worse had Laura Burns and Panorama been the ones to do a programme.

And of course, as ever, the BBC didn't want to do any investigation into Andrew at all!!!!

There's corruption everywhere. The BBC, the royal family, Andrew with all his extremely dodgy financial dealings, everything is connected and it seems to be a lot of powerful people and organisations all colluding with each other to keep things out of the public sphere.

Christ, Andrew had "masseuses" brought to him at Royal Lodge every Sunday. His driver would pick them up from Heathrow airport. 🤢🤢🤢

Prince Phillip’s affairs also talked about in the plural & as fact. Surely very hard for the Queen unless all open post children (?) It feels so immoral given CofE affiliation & for previous gens as our ‘betters’.

Also Epstein Melania’s ex (!) apparently.

Surely Queen knew of overseas Govt corruption - gift of a horse…etc.

QuenchedSquirrel · 03/11/2025 15:41

The talk's nearly at an end, and he's just talking about Beatrice and Eugenie's childhoods. Apparently neither parent visited them when they were at school, and for most of their childhoods Sarah was in America and they were brought up by the police protection officer and the nanny. If there was a photo opportunity Sarah would appear and have her girls in the photo, then she'd pass them back to the nanny.

I can really see them both trying to have any kind of relationship with parents who were absent during childhood. I also get why Beatrice might want to encourange the Newsnight interview so it could prove her father wasn't who he was being reported.

I think Eugenie's done well meeting someone who comes across as being relatively normal.

I think the corruption runs deep throughout the entire family, probably so much so half of it isn't even considered strange by them.

So much for the late queen being above board when an introduction for someone gets her a new horse for her stables in exchange!

Edo, B’s husband, seems fine but that quasi aristo Italian crowd are a bit of a slippery lot in my brief IME. The women breathtaking.

NotDelia · 03/11/2025 15:59

I think what shocks me most is my reaction that none of this really surprises me. There is a huge amount of money and effort that goes into keeping making monarchy the popular institution that it is. I’m not at all surprised to discover that the powerful figures at the BBC could be leaned upon, or would happily help, to collude with that effort so that as little mid as possible sticks to the monarchy, or the political elites in general. Of course there is bribery and corruption. Of course there is! Where there bountiful wealth and influence, and minimal oversight, it would be miraculous if anyone in royal family completely toed the line. If any of them feel a bit uncomfortable, it can all be rationalised away as a “grey area” or in the national interest or whatever.

No one at “the top” has any interest in rocking the boat too much. Lownie is quite correct in saying that these two idiots A and SF have absolutely gone too far. The level of seediness that they appear to have fallen to is something that can’t be overlooked and yes, they should have been cut out a long time ago.

The most damaging thing for the RF from all this is surely that it will be apparent the RF “knew” or certainly looked aside and didn’t ask the questions that ought to have been asked by the RF, questions no one else could ask - and effectively this abrogation of responsibility allowed A and SF to do what they liked whilst trying to coax them into playing a little more in the spirit of the game by offering pay-offs and jobs and whatnot.

When I think back to what the tabloids printed in those days, it’s clear that it wasn’t just the RF who indulged in outrageous behaviour. Will they suffer a consequence from their own part in the corrupt, sordid and greedy activities of the international elite? Unlikely.

QuenchedSquirrel · 03/11/2025 16:05

He's just finishing off with a bit about Mountbatten. Apparently the Mountbatten papers were bought for the nation and were supposed to be open from the start. They were kept closed and Andrew Lownie spent nearly £500,000 in legal fees and had to remortgage his house during the court case. When the papers were finally opened there was nothing in them that warranted their closure!

In December 2019 the Information Commissioner issued a decision notice compelling Southampton University to make the diaries and letters available. Southampton and the Cabinet Office, which claimed a stake under a ministerial direction, appealed the decision and the hearing was held in November last year, with the tribunal judgment recently announced. The ministerial direction was withdrawn as an argument before the hearing and its genesis remains a mystery. None of my Freedom of Information (FOI) requests found a department prepared to take responsibility for it.

I wonder if they'd even be that bothered if they lost their Princess titles? It might help keep them away from some of the most dodgy people who may not want to mooch them if they didn't have titles.

If they've been paraded for photo opps with their mother and her awful acquaintances, it's no wonder they're sucked into it themselves.

I agree. It’s just how it is, how it always has been.

For hundreds of years “foreign gentlemen with dark skin” have given our monarchs lovely gifts in exchange for an opportunity to make or improve a relationship with a powerful ally, or make a power-play to win respect from a rival. There is no inventory of the Royal Collection - at least a million items. Presumably not counting gifts of animals!

The Royals have of course known many of these gifts were not from “nice people”. Britain and its royal family aren’t and haven’t been “nice.” You don’t need to look far to quickly realise we haven’t acted morally throughout our rich imperial history. At the helm of which, our kings and queens. And beneath them, layer upon layer of people - some truly awful, some probably good.

It’s the public that likes the idea of the monarch and the working royals as “fundamentally good people”. And the RF obviously encourage that narrative. After all post-WW2 in a rush of patriotism; post-empire we have not much left to fee proud of, it is good to have a focal point for national pride. In many ways we don’t want to hear how awful A’s behaviour has been.

That would be the grounded & sensible option. They’d be respected for it but imagine they want.

PinkPanther57 · 03/11/2025 16:24

The log book being got rid of on PA’s orders so his movements couldn’t be verified…Everything can be fudged. I think so much exposure has now come due to modern age & tech.

PA being Porchie’s son brought up in Q&A - a 10 year gap between Princess Anne. A lot. Lownie says the Queen was angry with Phil at time in their marriage. Why? On balance Lownie says he thinks not but many of their circle do & others. Lownie said PA resembled Porchie in looks & character.

PinkPanther57 · 03/11/2025 16:44

Sarah’s pursuit of rich & famous men & the confidence to think she stood a chance…Had read but here sounds extraordinary.

That was a fascinating watch thanks OP. All the countries that had/have compromising pictures of Andrew. Astonishing

Spectre8 · 03/11/2025 17:12

Its been said before though, men i grey suits, the rf colluding with the press, each rf membed briefly against each other, this just proves that and that there is even worse being covered up. How anyone can defend the rf right now would be shocking in itself. Now is time they start being transparent especially with their finances. Its the only way forward, no more covering up, no more using their power to hide from. They should be subject to the same laws as their 'subjects' whom they are supposed to serve.

TheGander · 03/11/2025 17:17

Andrew Lownie has done a Public Service with that book. I hope he recoups everything he lost in legal fees and more.
I saw him interviewed in a program on channel 5 and he mentioned that Andrew demanded a brace of prostitutes from the British Ambassador, on arriving on a working visit abroad. To which the ambassador replied he was a diplomat, not a pimp. I wonder whether he’ll get a CBE 🤣
