Andrew, Sarah & a Royal Lodge question

Following some of the news stories about Andrew relinquishing Titles & a more local news story saying that he & his ex wife will continue to live in the Royal Lodge makes me wonder how that can be funded. Can they be made to leave if they can't pay?

It has 7 - or 12? - bedrooms so I expect it requires a bit of mopping & dusting each week - so do A & S also employ staff to maintain the property.

Not sure how old they both are either, maybe close to retirement?? but how do they fund a lifestyle without being propped up by the RF. Which prob won't please William too.
Just my tuppence worth question wondering how non working ex Royals with no marketable skills will pay staff wages & buy groceries.

I saw on GMTV this morning,The royal lodge you'd think would be a modest affair nope it has 30 bedrooms.
The hole he's dug just gets deeper and it's high time Epstein's American pals were named.
PA wasn't his only mate.

It has 7 bedrooms, not 30 🙄

Maybe it's a case of keep your friends close and your enemies closer? If A needs money the easiest option is to write an explosive memoir dishing all the dirt on the RF while making himself look squeaky clean.

Agree.

Or he could schmooze a lot of seedy people other than Epstein and continue to drag the family escutcheon through the mud.

Cutting off his funding a few years ago was a big mistake.

Google royal lodge and it's a Georgian residence on the Windsor estate and has 30 bedroom's.

30 rooms, 7 bedrooms
The Daily Mail article the PP linked actually says “30-room” in the title and then gets it wrong and contradicts itself further down. So that’s a bit of a clue that it’s maybe not the most reliable source.

I didn't get my info from the daily mail, bedroom's aside it's a bloody big house 👍😁

Ah sorry I see you said pp daily mail link ..my mistake noonames.

Baital · 21/10/2025 06:35

A quick Google shows various sources including Sothebys and Wikipedia saying it has 30 rooms.

Some also specify the number of bedrooms - 7.

The Crown Estate is separate to the royal family. It looks after the parks, forests, countryside, off shore wind farms, sea beds, and 100s of properties. I used date someone who rented from the Crown Estate and he wasn't anyone special.

If Andrew has paid his rent up front, like many people do (I did when I rented), then he can't be evicted without them refunding the rent, it doesn't matter how much the Daily Mail says William wants him to be or how much Kate and William want Royal Lodge. It's not up to William or Charles or the Daily Mail it's up to the Crown Estate who are run just like any other business.

The difference with Royal Lodge and other houses in Windsor Great Park is that it's within the security cordon. Forest Lodge wasn't which is why they've closed off an area of the Great Park and car park that was open to the public.

Someone at the Crown Estate is getting sacked if they've leaked the lease as well.

Mumdiva99 · 21/10/2025 07:15

I'm not an Andrew fan. But this is a non-story. The agreement was he paid for the renovations and took that from his rent. So he has paid. Just upfront. Nothing to see here......

I would imagine he's inherited money, he had a rich granny and a rich mother.

opencecilgee · 21/10/2025 07:19

Can’t he get a Netflix deal? Reality tv show starring him and Fergie?

Lunde · 21/10/2025 07:31

Fergie sold her London house in in Belgravia just this August for £3.85 million

He was schmoozing Epstein and Chinese spies long before his funding was cut off. If he’s completely cast out from the Royal Family any further misconduct will only reflect badly on him, and vindicate their decision.

MrsLeonFarrell · 21/10/2025 08:32

I'm pretty sure that if they wanted to evict him the Crown Estate could find he had failed to fulfil all of his lease agreement. Landlords do that all the time. I could understand them being wary when the late Queen was alive but surely in the current climate it's the ideal time? They have to do it legally of course but I'm betting someone like Andrew has definitely done someone they could use.

Maybe 7 bedrooms and a lot of "reception rooms" it is massive 🤔

Yes, it’s not 30 bedrooms massive though, is it.

Far more than that. His middle Eastern contacts are deeply entrenched. He has been taking pay offs and backhanders for decades

FightingInAVatOfJellyBabies · 21/10/2025 09:31

This is not a '7 bedroom house'

It is a ploy to make it sound less grand than it is.

He’ll have a really good Army pension (he’s was a heavily decorated navy veteran) and I would assume inheritance from both parents Prince Philip & the late Queen.
Wasn’t Prince Philip a member of the Greek Royal Family/household? Old money.

I’ve heard this morning he gets £20k Pa for his navy pension - I was on the news programmes (can’t remember which as I’ve watched 4 already this morning f lol)

On the news this morning they’ve done the maths and he’s getting away with paying very little if you look at it that way, less than half apparently

Philip's line didn't have any money. Which is let irrelevant because surely the late Queen arranged a trust for him. But it does seem as if he and Sarah can spend any amount of money, no matter how large.

Andrew was in the Navy. The pension is not £millions.
Prince Philip was of German/Danish royal heritage, but had no money of his own on his marriage, only through his English cousin, the Marquis of Milford Haven. I don't think PP was himself a millionaire.

Timeforabitofpeace · 21/10/2025 10:58

The pension is £20,000, as often publicly stated.
