Jamaican PM Holness told King Charles that he did not invite Harry and Meghan to Marley Premier

H&M created a diplomatic issue for the head of government of one of KC3's realms, to the extent that PM Holness called KC3 to clarify that Holness had not invited H&M to the Marley premier and was in fact blindsided by the duo.

And therein lies the issue with the so-called reconciliation. H is a loose cannon. KC3 has enabled H for his lifetime and has protected H by keeping news of the Holness call under wraps. It was the Jamaican side that has put this news out there.

If H gets his meeting and then sprints to the nearest TV camera to use "King Pa" to access other individuals and subsequently causes havoc for UK international relations...then "King Pa" will only have himself to blame for failing to put his country above his personal desires.

I have always said that H&M would eventually cause a diplomatic incident too big for KC3 to contain. Well...there it is.

Jamaican PM 'called King to say they'd not told him they were coming'

Jamaica's ambassador for culture to the UK, told The MOS that Harry and Meghan's appearance at the premiere of Bob Marley biopic caused a diplomatic dilemma for Andrew Holness.

Normal people don't care about this

R0ckandHardPlace · 08/09/2025 10:52

Can’t see the issue here? They’re just normal members of the public now aren’t they? They can go where they like or have they been legally banned from all commonwealth countries?

And the prize for the most irrelevant thread goes to.........................

Thedom · 08/09/2025 11:34

That was when Harry and Meghan thought they were still relevant as Royal Family and not just celebs.

This^^ . Yes indeed.

You can’t have it both ways.

Either they are unimportant non-entities who should go away and shut up.

Or they are still relevant because of their familial relationship to the crown.

Which is it to be?

I doubt if H and M regard themselves as ordinary members of the public ! Ordinary members of the public are not accompanied by bodyguards , don’t insist on using titles and are not unhappy with a Christopher Wren designed house with access to a Palace in a prestigious area !

BemusedAmerican · 08/09/2025 12:17

Well, they then made the ballgown-clad Meghan sit in the public seats, surrounded by people in shorts eating popcorn, and didn't give her any of the free bottled water. I think Jamaica handled the gate crashing well under the circumstances.

If H & M justed wanted to see the movie, they could have waited for it to be released in the US. It came to my local theater.

HonoriaBulstrode · 08/09/2025 12:18

KC3 has enabled H for his lifetime and has protected H by keeping news of the Holness call under wraps.

It has always been an absolutely fundamental principle that the sovereign's conversations with his/her ministers are confidential. As more than one British PM has said, it's the one time you can speak freely knowing that what you say will not be leaked.

Do you think that the Jamaican PM for some reason isn't entitled to the same degree of confidentiality as the British PM?

PM of insignificant country overreacts to tourists going to cinema.

Must be a slow news day.

I'm a normal member of the public but I've never ever attended a film premiere as I didn't even know that randoms could rock up to them.

BemusedAmerican · 08/09/2025 12:48

They flew from LA to Jamaica to attend the premier and were barred from the VIP room. They also insisted on posing with the PM. If I really want to see a movie, I just go on the first day that it is shown in my local theater and buy a snack.

I'm sure it's pretty significant to the people who live there!

That’s a bit rude to Jamaica.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 08/09/2025 13:20

Funny isn’t it when Meghan and Harry are revealed as the pair of tits they are by the PM of Jamaica no less you get posters saying no big deal, insignificant country etc. well it was clearly a big deal to Meghan and Harry who flew in from LA to attend with Meghan wearing a ball gown of all things and then shown to the cheap seats! Their faces were incredulous, the shame!

MaturingCheeseball · 08/09/2025 13:22

Harry and Meghan are being very boring at the moment. The Bob Marley film premiere was one of the highlights of their ongoing saga. Sitting in their finery amongst popcorn detritus and ordinary folk was a sight to see! And Harry pompously and incredulously enquiring if they were really meant to sit there - marvellous.

I agree that the Jamaicans handled it well. Polite greeting and then a firm close of the door to the VIP room. Ouch.

TheCurious0range · 08/09/2025 13:25

😂 has anyone got pictures of this?

Also how does flying to Jamaica for a film you've not been invited to fit with Harry's eco credentials?......

BigWillyLittleTodger · 08/09/2025 13:33

About 40 seconds in

flippantlydone · 08/09/2025 13:39

I see KC’s team leaking like a drain, again. Just to let Harry know (for his arrival) that that the Daily Mail is on the RF’s side (for the moment, at least).

Jamaica’s ambassador for culture told the daily Mail this. Given that the PM of Jamaica has been very open about wanting to be a republic very soon, I’m not inclined to think that he’d allow his ambassador to say this/be used as a way to get the info out if he wasn’t happy with it. She (the culture ambassador) has said that the PM was annoyed to be involved in royal politics when he has more important things to focus on.

Are you saying you think the Jamaican PM has allowed his culture ambassador to be used to leak info that the king’s team would like made public?

flippantlydone · 08/09/2025 13:58

I honestly have no idea, but my opinion is that the RF are very happy to see negative press on H&M - whether it is true or not. As it keeps us nicely distracted from their shenanigans.

CoffeeCantata · 08/09/2025 15:06

I wonder when Prime Minister Holness will hold the independence referendum? He has referred to this intention several times but seems slow or reluctant to actually carry it out.

My2cents1975 · 08/09/2025 15:07

More spin than my dryer, but facts are pesky things.

Here is a high-level official, speaking on the record that the Jamaican government was "annoyed" and that the Jamaican Prime Minister (Holness) sought to correct the record with his Head of State (KC3).

As much as super supporters try to dismiss this incident, this is very pertinent to H&M's grifters getaways to various countries and the potential diplomatic fallout.

As far as I’m aware, there was a bill going through parliament to have a referendum after the general election, which was last week.

But that might be out of date info.

But the article itself says they were invited by the CEO

I have no idea what's true and what isn't but they didn't just rock up at a premiere uninvited, if you look at the article

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/09/2025 15:17

Yes, it's the fact it's on the record which counts, @My2cents1975, but it still doesn't guarantee that the Jamaicans' current narrative is true

Holness was happy enough to pose with H&M during the fake royal visit, but if for any reason he's come to feel the association is less than beneficial to him I could quite see him swapping to "Wasn't me guv"

Edited to add what's happened to the other "royal tours"? Wasn't it said they'd be going to Ghana next?
