The royal family

Any other declared Republicans having difficulty getting back in to Royal Family threads?

Yes I know this sounds very odd! 😃

I am honestly not a paid up member of the tin foil hat brigade and tend not to believe in conspiracy theories!

But … I can get in to any other topic on Mumsnet very quickly but when it comes to RF threads that I have posted on, it’s very, very slow, and sometimes refreshes to a blank page or doesn’t allow me in, in the first place! Not the same for other threads I have posted on under this nn, and others with a similar number of posts.

It’s really wierd!

Dh says I am being tracked by Buckingham Palace which I would consider a great complement frankly! 😆😆

But could it possibly be that Mumsnet Towers put certain posters “under observation” for reasons best known to themselves?

I can’t imagine why as I have always found their moderation to be reasonable and fair given the enormous task in hand!

Btw, I know this thread should probably be on Site Stuff but I wanted other republicans to see it!

Have any other declared Republicans experienced the same issues or am I losing touch with reality? 😃😃

why would you ask this question by starting a thread on RF, rather than asking on Site Stuff if there is a problem with loading threads or is KC3 tracking me?

I already explained Myrtle in my op!

I know it’s a mad possibility, but I wanted to know if the Republican element was significant or not. I know it’s very unlikely to be!

Also, it’s slightly more entertaining on this board 😆

Why is it more entertaining on this board?

jeffgoldblum · 10/08/2025 16:46

I’m assuming that due to the reports and occasional odd moding decisions we are less likely to tell the op to “fuck off!” 🤣

AzurePanda · 10/08/2025 16:48

Why on earth would Mumsnet care if someone is a Republican or not?

CoffeeCantata · 10/08/2025 18:20

I find the RF boards are a jolly good place for a decent discussion with almost entirely well-informed posters on both (are there only 2??) sides. Would recommend.

Just the odd seagull swoops in to bite, do a poo or nick your chips, metaphorically speaking.

I would agree, @CoffeeCantata . Plus, I think there are more than 2 sides, the best discussions include nuance where people acknowledge the issues, but just disagree on the finer points.
Some seagulls, as you say!

Yes you must be on the naughty list! 😂

How do you become a "declared" republican? Rather than just a republican, do you get a card.

I think you get a rosette and a car sticker?....😆

I've got a 'Not My King' tee but I don't wear it while posting.

I think that and my trusty tinfoil hat must have got me under the MN wire 🤓

😂😂
I sincerely hope that, like the rest of us, you post on RF threads wearing a tiara!

jamnpancakes · 10/08/2025 23:11

Do you think it's like the time the mods were allegedly changing names of posters too after they were posting to cause confusion? 😂😂

I’m not a republican so I’m seeing fit to post while wearing an elevated and elaborate fully fashioned tin foil ball gown !
it’s a tad stiff and rustles quite a bit but these are the lengths I’m willing to go to if I fit in! 😉

Profhilodisaster · 12/08/2025 13:57

I've had the pages flickering today, maybe there's a glitch on the site.

Unicornsandprincesses · 12/08/2025 14:12

I’d say it’s far more likely to be cookie/cache related.

Try logging in with an incognito window, does it still happen?

Try using a VPN — that’ll really throw Buckingham Palace off the scent. Unless, of course, it reroutes you through a Montecito or California server… that might make them raise an eyebrow.

Thank you for the sensible advice!

I might have to commandeer my dh’s laptop for an incognito window, if I have understood properly, so will get back to you about that!

Thanks again!

Actually a VPN is a good idea! I should have thought of that! Thank you!

You can open them on most phones too. Safari and chrome on mobile both let you open private or incognito tabs

wordler · 12/08/2025 16:41

I think it’s the length of some threads and how it works with the advertising loading.

I had to stop using the safari browser on my phone for all MN threads because it was glitching in the same way you describe.

Swapped to Chrome and now it doesn’t happen.

This is via phone - no problems at all on laptop.

For me with the Safari browser on my phone it was still glitchy even in Incognito mode.

It was definitely connected to cookies and the advertising loading.
