A pet shop

helpful!

You really can buy them from a pet shop.

A few years ago I bought a cute little box of gin & tonic garnishes, including various spices, as well as rose petals. It sounded lovely, but when I tried drinking the G&T, the flower petals got stuck in my teeth and I found myself having to pick them out. Not exactly the sophisticated Mediterranean vibe I was going for. I ended up chucking the whole box.

That stupid spray thing that was meant to add some sort of aroma experience that came with Silent Pool last year is also up there with Pointless Things I Do Not Need.

ETA, Meghan, no.

It’s not complicated. It’s either OK to monetize your name or it isn’t. Provided there is no fraud or deception, it’s possible to make a valid argument either way. It doesn’t matter whether it’s for charity or personal profit. Personally, I wish people wouldn’t because many consumers are easily taken in by marketing. But it’s perfectly legal, whether it’s a 10 quid jar of jam or a £50 souvenir teapot.(disclaimer-I have no idea how much commemorative teapots cost)

Oh, and Middle Eastern cookery often uses flowers. And in the UK, people use nasturtium flowers in salads. And “minerality” is a poncy wine term

Edited

The purpose of what the monetization is for it clearly relevant to the ethics of it re royal status.

It's not illegal but it's not very honest or authentic, and for someone who wishes everyone would 'tell the truth', she's not being Mrs Do As You Would Done By, is she?

Can I just pop in ( from neighbour’s very boozy BBQ) and ask what the references to “ complicated narrative “ refers to?

Serenster · 21/06/2025 20:06

Accordingly to CurlewKaye, there is no difference whatsoever between JM Barrie donating all the royalties of his play Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Andrew Tate launching the “Daddy Tate” cryptocurrency memecoin.

Meanwhile, back in the real world…

Oh, and Middle Eastern cookery often uses flowers. And in the UK, people use nasturtium flowers in salads.

Two questions:

Was Meghan using her flower sprinkles in Middle Eastern food?
Was Meghan using fresh nasturtium flowers in a salad?

I beehive the answer to both is no, but am happy to be corrected.

I see what you did there 😁😁😁

@CurlewKate "It’s not complicated. It’s either OK to monetize your name or it isn’t. Provided there is no fraud or deception, it’s possible to make a valid argument either way. "

I agree . Of course lots of people monetise their name . To me though , there is a difference between Duchy Jam / teapots and money not being personally trousered and eg Beckham aftershave (if there is such a thing) . Also ( and I do not know the exact terms of this ) using "The Duchess of Sussex" to promote brands / tv series etc seems close to the wind as far as what I understand the spirit of the Sandringham summit was. But I don't know those terms. I suspect no-one does. I also suspect HLMTQ was more exercised about using HRH than the titles.

Personally I think Meghan is famous enough in her own right ( because of her marriage) to just sell things under "Meghan". And fill your boots I say. Using the titles when they have made something of a living from criticising the RF sits uncomfortably with me. But really , they are becoming so detached from the UK RF it almost doesn't matter any more.

Wow. I can say hand on heart I've not seen anything as close to appalling said on this site about anyone before. Ever. @CurlewKate what do you mean?

Nothankyov · 22/06/2025 01:08

I haven’t tried the rose - but the products I have tried so far are very nice.

BemusedAmerican · 22/06/2025 01:46

Speaking as an American honey lover, I just walked out of Trader Joes because instead of carrying a line of NY upstate honey, they replaced It with honey blended from 5 different countries. I'm going to wait until Monday and buy a small upstate brand from a store near me.

I'm not going to spend a fortune on her honey with an unknown provenance when I can get 2 pounds of honey from Crete for the same amount, which is a luxury purchase for me. I like to support bees by supporting local small apiaries. I would buy Highgrove honey for that reason. I'm not going to buy generic junk.

It's been an ongoing joke in the US that the flower sprinkles are pricey pet food.

I think I may have posted this before re WLM hints and tips which have been going since Adam was a lad. My mother once held a drinks party at home and did the freezing edible prettiness in ice cubes thing ( late 70s / 80s ? ) Half way through the evening her friend Audrey tipped a perfectly good G&T down the sink, explaining :"it had a fly in it " . It was an edible flower which had escaped its ice cube tomb. Since then I have never been given a G&T at my mother's house with anything more than ice and a slice of lemon in it.

Life's too short to stuff a mushroom (unless you want to)

ETA as I can't do a reaction - consider yourself in receipt of a 😂for your mediterranean vibe ambition/ teeth result. That amused me.

It’s a perfect example of the poisonous element Meghan attracts and they eventually show us who and what they are.

In a forum where people have suggested affairs, domestic violence, plastic surgery, fake pregnancies, clones, massive financial fraud, bullying..the most appalling thing you have ever seen is the suggestion that the PR around Catherine’s health has been less than clear????

What do you mean "the PR around Catherine's health has been less than clear"?
What "PR"?
The Palace has communicated very clearly. Catherine has had cancer, and underwent treatment. What more do you need to know, and what exactly are you suggesting?

KateDelRick · 22/06/2025 07:22

Also, to write about Catherine's cancer in the same post as various items of gossip about other royals is absolutely extraordinary.
Seriously.
