Due to this thread I'm very tempted by the Highgrove Christmas candles, look lovely and v reasonable in the sale. As long as someone wouldn't mind making a note to remind me that I've got them come December. Ta.😂

CurlewKate · 21/06/2025 16:44

Just had a look at the website. Can’t find anything about it being hand made or artisinal. “Inspired” by Meghan’s kitchen is the closest. Bullshit but not misleading. And the ingredients are the same as home made and better than most supermarket brands. Same as M&S but more organic ingredients.

Ohpleeeease · 21/06/2025 16:48

I also don’t see anything wrong in her selling her crap as Meghan. It’s when she starts with the Duchess of Sussex that I squirm. And as for the HRH…

Mylovelygreendress · 21/06/2025 16:51

I see the wine is to be launched on 1st July . Diana’s birthday.

Great! Diana's not here to celebrate her birthday because she was killed by a drunk driver. Buy some wine!

I actually agree with you that she’s not doing anything wrong. I wouldn’t buy it, but selling over priced stuff isn’t something uniquely awful. Loads of celebrities use their names this way.

I do think it’s odd to compare it to anything that is sold to raise money for a charity though (even if you don’t personally support that charity).

But the issue is trading of of royal title

Nagginthenag · 21/06/2025 17:05

C'mon now, her whole vibe is artisan, wholefood, handpicked. There's no shots of forklifts loading pallets of whitelabelled products onto trucks, or 30,000 litre stainless steel vats of gloop being stirred in massive mixing machines 😁. As for the daftness of people buying it, she's shilling it to her Squaddies who've fallen for her bullshit hook, line and sinker.

I think M&S preserve has a higher fruit content for what, a third of the price.....

Exactly. As Ever sales are off the back of With Love Meghan, where Meghan is "showing up" for her guests and "elevating" their experience with her by serving them her home-made jam on everything, sprinkles on everything and giving them skin burns with lovingly made bath salts. But she does leave some clues about what she's really about. The decanting of store bought pretzels. The pretending to make popcorn from a cob, when the instant packet is in camera shot. She said it herself - she's a fraud.

Thinlyveiled · 21/06/2025 17:17

Imagine being her.. the vapid, false , fake and always struggling to be relevant life she lives . No amount of mansions and millions would make me want to be her. What a sad way to live .

What else can she trade on? Hard work? Expertise? Talent?
The royal connection is all she has.

IdaGlossop · 21/06/2025 17:25

Meghan has made BBCR4 PM - an item on celebrity wine!! Proof if any were needed that she is at the heart of the British establishment and that the Royal family failed to recognise her worth!!!

After this endorsement from the world's most respected broadcaster, you go 'Once your brand, that you put love and authenticity into, has received this accolade, you know you're on the highway to breaking historic sales records. You're a mom, a wife, a sister, a friend, but above all you're a viticulteur.

'This manifesting was always a part of me. When I was two, and still mastering walking, my dad used to take me on set. One day, I picked up a corkscrew and recited to camera by heart the entire wine list of The Ritz. There were French, German, Argentinian, Spanish, Hungarian, Chilean, Italian and Austrian people there. They all told my dad they couldn't believe the perfection of my accent, no matter what language or variant of it, I was speaking.

'The following day, the most famous president of the USA, Theodore Roosevelt, rose from the dead to order the creation of the Toddler Sommelier award. I have won it every year since. It means so much to me that Lili will receive it in the future.'

Maybe that is what Diana told her to do when she cuddled her gravestone 🙄😆

LaMarschallin · 21/06/2025 17:32

Maybe she should launch a range of spirits then too.

ittersbitters · 21/06/2025 17:34

Where can I buy flower sprinkles that are similar?

To be fair, the King makes money out of selling jam, too!

I'm not sure how many times it needs to be pointed out that the King does not make a penny from 'selling jam'. The proceeds from the Duchy products go entirely to charity.

It's not really a complicated narrative. In fact, it's pretty simple.

IcedPurple · 21/06/2025 17:45

So dropping a few products - which no doubt will 'sell out' in hours - every couple of months?

That sounds less like a business and more like a vanity project.

Uricon2 · 21/06/2025 17:50

Oh those ruddy sprinkles! OK shortbread. OK a few other puddingy things/cakes. But quiche? Scrambled eggs? It's actually yuk.

I've no idea if her variant contains lavender (lots seem to) but the last thing most of us want to eat is lavender flavoured ruddy quiche, so I'm hoping not. Still yuk. I'd say it's style over substance but it isn't even style to throw blasted pot pourri at savoury dishes.

TheAutumnCrow · 21/06/2025 17:57

Dried rose petals belong in Ras el Hanout, at a push.

sunnydaysfillmewithpeace · 21/06/2025 18:02

If they were really petty, the Highgrove estate could do a brilliant social media ads campaign targeting Americans and offering free postage over a certain amount to the US. I mean honey from the King’s bees on a royal estate is really quite the thing to any US person who loves a bit of English finery.

Uricon2 · 21/06/2025 18:04

I'm beginning to think that she can't actually cook at all because if she could, she'd know that some of these suggestions are going to get the eyebrow from people who can. Or those who in fact eat food.

Meghan, this does not conjure "magic". It does not elevate. It is just daft.

ittersbitters · 21/06/2025 18:13

I’m not sure how many times it needs to be pointed out ( there have been many posts since that one of mine you highlighted!) that many people use their names to attract attention to their products. Which is, of course, entirely legitimate. Whether it’s for personal gain or for charity, so long as there are no false pretences or fraud, it’s perfectly acceptable.

Annascaul · 21/06/2025 18:16

Oh, give it up, @CurlewKate
You’re clearly just not capable of grasping the point.
Tedious.
