Quite, very interested to know what Harry has “paid to this country” and how it can be more than I’ve paid.
I’m fortunate to have a senior job, so I pay a lot of money in tax (nowhere near millionaire status sadly but also nowhere near wealthy enough to have my money in offshore accounts and tax avoidance schemes either). So I can quantify exactly what I’ve “paid” to this country.
What’s Harry paid for @economyclassrockstar? He certainly has a hell of a lot more paid out for him by the state - security costs running into tens of millions over his lifetime, as well as a subsidised lifestyle from the public purse for many years (not now of course, though we still pay for his security costs, and for the court costs for his numerous vexatious court cases.)
Or do you mean paid in other senses? I mean he did serve in the army for a bit (though by all accounts had a pretty cushty time of it) - so there’s that - but any one of the “armchair commenters” you criticise could have many more years in the armed forces than Harry, or as a nurse, in the police or emergency response forces, for example.
So then are you counting the time that he was a working royal as his big “payment” to the country? Because that’s living a life of great privilege in exchange for attending events, meeting and greeting members of the public and giving speeches. I’m not anti royal, I don’t have a problem with it, but I also think it falls pretty low down on the list of great acts of service.
I guess this person has swallowed Harry’s own bullshit claim of 35 years of service to the U.K. - obviously he was doing his duty while he was a babe in arms 😂
