Apparently William and Catherine are called Lord and Lady of the Isles in Mull. What a beautiful title Lady of the Isles is, much nicer than Princess of Wales.

Anyway I thought I'd start a thread musing on titles in general, they don't have to be royal.

My favourite title Lady of the Isles (as of today)

Least favourite Princess of Bourbon Two Sicilies (what a mouthful)

I love Laird as a title. I've watched too much Outlander I think!

A long time ago I had a friend whose address was Tobin Armstrong, Armstrong Ranch, Armstrong, Texas. ( names slightly changed-don’t worry. Although I suspect they would shoot anyone who invaded their privacy!)

That's a family who are embedded in the landscape, love it.

I can’t hear the title Baron without thinking of the Bloody Red Baron song. Or more recently, Trump’s son. Viscount makes me think of those nice mint biscuits

And my personal favorite, the late Sir Gregor MacGregor of MacGregor.

That is wonderful.

This is why I love history and royal history. The Monty Python-ness of it is so enjoyable!

Have a look at photos of George V and Tsar Nicholas II. Twinnies!

Prince Michael of Kent in his younger years was another look alike.

I have a fondness for the title given to Prince Philip in Papua New Guinea in the local language of Tok Pisin, “oldfella Pili-Pili him bilong Misis Kwin”. He had other more grand sounding titles but I bet he really enjoyed that one.

Oh that reminds me, very happily, of the Papua New Guinea phrase for a solar eclipse "Big lamp bilong Missus Kween bugger up"

Genius.
