Not listened to the first in Meghan's podcast series, a conversation with the founder of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Heard, but the Mail has collated all the press reviews so far, with links. The Guardian, Telegraph and i-Paper are unanimous: the podcast is cloyingly dreadful.

The reviews for Meghan Markle's latest podcast are in! Two stars for Confessions of a Female Founder https://mol.im/a/14584193 via https://dailym.ai/android

I firmly stand by my original position - I find discussing another woman' s miscarriage with such lack of sensitivity absolutely shocking.

You described a woman's (Meghan's) miscarriage details using the pejorative term "morbid" in a post this morning. You are in no position whatsoever to lecture anyone else.

Please do

Please do what? I have stated that I have something, not doing something? Are you a bit confused by something?

My apology, I thought you were going to post the "receipts". I have nothing to hide, so if you feel like doing or posting something I won't certainly object to it.

Well no, as it’s against the rules to post deleted posts. As you well know, as you were threatening to do so yourself on this thread but never did. Maybe you need to read up on the Mumsnet rules? Especially as you’ve had 7 posts deleted for policing the thread, bullying and intimidation.

Just a gentle reminder for those who are claiming amnesia, my post that was deleted and cited multiple times was regarding me going back and forth with users who claimed to not have made these comments. I simply reminded them that what they were saying was simply not true and that their lies could be easily disproved by using certain tools.

Just a reminder you aren’t the thread police.

100% agree.

Lets not fall for the drailing attempts - they are an attempt to avoid discussion of the multiple atrocious reviews of Ep2 coming in this morning.

Lets discuss these instead:

A gentle reminder that a way to avoid the thread from being "detailed" may be to avoid to quote users who you may think are detailing the thread.

Thanks for sharing, I haven’t been able to find many reviews - no one seems to be talking about it. This can’t be going the way she hoped.

Dalky · 16/04/2025 11:33

Cant see any other reviews from UK media - looks like it wasnt worth covering - last weeks news.

Anyone seen any from the US maybe?

I've only seen what I've read here, I'm afraid.

I'm not sure how I'd feel if my DH suggested I have a bath or go and work out, even if he tried to sugar the pill by starting off with "My love..." (really?).
I'm generally capable of sorting out my own hygiene and health.

Wow, that’s a damning review. It’s kind of how I feel the whole thing to be honest. One, she isn’t really a ‘founder’ nevermind a successful one enough to prompt a podcast on it. Two; it’s like soft core feminism where she uses all the right buzz words but mixed with word salad (think Girl Power/Girl Boss, all talk no walk). Three, it’s giving a mixed message about her brand. Is she a Girl Boss or a tradwife like she has been portraying herself in As Ever, Meghan? She is constantly reinventing herself, I don’t think even Meghan knows who she is any more. It’s just all so confused!

It seems like there is the need to repeat myself again - there were comments on here that were deemed insensitive and dismissive over pregnancy loss. These comments were reported and Mumsnet had to intervene to gently remind the users that pregnancy loss is a sensitive subject and should be discussed accordingly. I am just going to repost a gentle reminder for those users that are being purposely disingenuous and continue to show a dismissive attitude towards this particular subject.

This is meant to be a thread about reviews of a podcasr about female business founders. Can you please now give over on the miscarriage thing. Yhe thread has moved on, and you are looking like you have a miscarriage obsession.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 16/04/2025 11:42

Honestly she would do better doing a podcast about herself rather than on a specific issue. More people would be interested in her day to day life and she could take about the flavour of the week topic that she likes to bandwagon on.

Uricon2 · 16/04/2025 11:43

The Standard piece is interesting. I've long felt that "having it all" unfortunately in reality means "doing it all" for many, many women, especially the ones without millions in the bank and staff.

It just all seems so reductive. Agree with the reviewer that this, alongside the ridiculous space trip, feels like a big step back for feminism. It’s just so void of meaning. There’s no depth or passion to anything she says, it’s just various faux inspirational quotes strung together.

I feel like she’s throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Unfortunately, no one is interested in what she has to offer outside of the royal family and gossip, so nothing is sticking. I wonder if she has any regrets about burning their bridges?

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 16/04/2025 11:50

I particularly find this paragraph damning”

“The Duchess of Sussex knows her way around the lingo — she’s all about “showing up with love” and “talking about self-work”. In terms of actual entrepreneurship advice, the heavy lifting is very much up to her guests”

Essentially she’s good at talking word salad and shit, but she’s not qualified to talk about actual entrepreneurship. She’s podcasting about something she knows nothing about 😆

LipglossAlly · 16/04/2025 11:54

It doesn't feel like a step back for feminism to me. Acknowledging that climbing the career ladder for a woman that has kids compared to their male counterparts is more difficult because of the expectations that society and as a result women place on themselves, is acknowledging that there is an issue. Only when this has been acknowledged we can move forward and work towards making things better.

I do not believe that being the head of an organisation such as "Women in stem" is a step back either. Objectively, the number of women that go into these types of field is smaller than that of their male counterparts. Bringing awareness to this and making sure that women don't miss out on the potentially hefty salary that may come with perusing this line of work is actually good for feminism.

This sums up my feelings on the matter of their ‘feminism’ quite nicely

”But equating love for work and love for family raises my hackles. So too their discussion of trying to combine running a business with motherhood. They concur that if women could just be more open about their struggles, and be granted more flexible hours and parental leave, the problem could be solved. The lack of maternity leave is an American scandal, but no activist struggle has resolved with a polite request.”

Isn’t that the idea though? She’s interviewing women who are successful business founders, I don’t think she’s saying she is a successful founder as she’s just trying to get her business off the ground. Thats how I see it anyway.

LipglossAlly · 16/04/2025 12:03

The fact that no one is interested in her post RF life is simply not true. She seems to have found her niche whether it be with her podcast, lifestyle show or products. People are seeing more of her personality and what her brand is about(rather than the BM caricature). Those who were only interested in the RF drama will get bored with time( hopefully), whereas those who are interested in the content she puts out will stay( that is what it means finding your niche).
