Not listened to the first in Meghan's podcast series, a conversation with the founder of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Heard, but the Mail has collated all the press reviews so far, with links. The Guardian, Telegraph and i-Paper are unanimous: the podcast is cloyingly dreadful.

The reviews for Meghan Markle's latest podcast are in! Two stars for Confessions of a Female Founder https://mol.im/a/14584193 via https://dailym.ai/android

Interesting Spectator article. I believe the author is very insightful

https://archive.ph/t4qj1

Ouch:

*"She’s a brand: a curated carousel of grievances, empowerment slogans, wellness trends, and soft-focus Instagram aesthetics. She is what happens when a person becomes trapped inside their own marketing campaign. Somewhere along the way, she lost her soul.

The deeper issue, and why the public’s patience keeps thinning, is the sheer transparency of it all. The reinventions aren’t organic, and they aren’t believable. They are crafted, strategized, and launched with press releases and carefully coordinated leaks.

Every move screams calculation, not conviction. There’s also the inconvenient fact that, by all credible accounts, Meghan’s carefully curated public image of the smiling humanitarian, the tireless advocate, masks a very different reality behind closed doors."*

That’s a great article. I agree with his conclusion. It is exhausting watching her. The problem with her is she has no genuine passions in life.

Oh I can think of a few more - disingenous, duplicitous, deluded and that's just the D's ... we also have grandiose, grasping, greedy - I could go on.

glitterturd · 15/04/2025 10:59

What does this have to do with the business of founding businesses? To me it sounds just like another chance for her to talk about herself.

Actually the owner of Mumsnet did come out a while ago and called these posters deranged. I genuinely wonder why a website targeted primarily at parents would allow these awful posts full of insults and all sorts of bullying to stand. Although it generates traffic, it can't be good for the overall image and ethos of this website. Many posts have declared that they are too disgusted to even open any H&M related thread and that they wished they had never opened any of them. This is genuinely awful and I have no idea how these people live with themselves. Something needs to be done. Does Mumsnet really wants to be known as the new tattle? As a mum, I am not ok with these kinds of posts standing on a parent forum and I will definitely be complaining.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 15/04/2025 11:58

It's stretching credulity to think that she doesn't have time to use one of the 16 bathrooms and is perpetually cuddling her children.

Harry also doesn't strike me as the sort of person who'd perpetually start sentences with "My love".

She didn’t call the posters deranged .

LipglossAlly · 15/04/2025 12:06

Are these people still listening to a podcast they are not interested to hosted by a person they dislike to have something to b@@@h about on Mumsnet? Yes , I think we are well past being defined as deranged!!!

I think if you read what she actually said. She didn’t specify whether she was talking about “these posters” as you call them, more about the fact that the discussion about Meghan invited “deranged” posters in general. So could have been those in favour of Meghan or those against. Anyway, this is old news now

Have you listened to it?

They were talking about women coping with health things that impact women at the same time as being a woman running a business. The woman interviewed has had multiple miscarriages and talked about how she never stopped working even when she got the news she was miscarrying as well as when she had other health issues. They talked about the importance of looking after yourself and knowing when to take a break. Meghan only very, very briefly mentioned her miscarriage. The other woman then talked for a long time about hers so I wouldn’t say it was a chance for Meghan to talk about herself at all.

I think we all know which posters she was talking about.

No, this is not past news, and from what we are seeing is still a relevant conversation. All these deranged threads are not doing Mumsnet any favours in terms of their image and I am eager to let them know or maybe remind them of that! This used to be a website mainly targeted at parents for advice now quickly descending into tattle territory.

OnYourSide · 15/04/2025 12:16

Someone in the DM comments suggested plague or typhoid.

Nominative · 15/04/2025 13:02

From that article about the miscarriage:

The 43-year-old likened miscarriage to letting go of a business and stepping down from a company.
She said: 'I've spoken about the miscarriage that we experienced, and I think in some parallel way, you have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for, and to be able to be ok at a certain point to let something go, something that you planned to love for a long time.'

Seriously? I felt many emotions when I had miscarriages, it never once occurred to me that it was like letting go of a business. And I rather doubt that Meghan thought that either, given her minimal experience of actually running businesses at that point in her life.

Woooow, we are even making fun of a women who had previous miscarriages now? Enough is enough. Wow these threads are really reaching a new low. Shocking! These conversations actually need to be screenshot and shown as evidence that these threads should absolutely not be allowed to stand. With all the women that see Mumsnet as a safe space to talk about the pain that comes with having a miscarriage, this is what these threads are sinking into? Absolutely disgusting and shocking.
