Prince Harry had a hilarious message to those trolling him and Meghan

So, this is a good one.

Harry, who according to some is suffering from plummeting popularity, has no friends, is an irrelevant non-entity and a 'Hollywood Loser', and is on the brink of divorce was last night sharing a platform with his fellow non-entities Bill Clinton, Jeff Bezos, Jerome Powell (Fed Chair), Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO, creators of ChatGPT), Sundar Pichai (Google CEO) and others at the New York Times DealBook Summit.

The conversation with the interviewer, Andy Sorkin, was textbook put-down to Harry's merry band of obsessive trolls around the world:

"Towards the end of the interview, Sorkin, 47, asked Prince Harry about how he grapples with the public fascination surrounding every aspect of his life — a scrutiny that not only highlights the positive causes he advocates for but also casts a harsh spotlight on his personal relationships.
"I Google Newsed you, and there were people fascinated by everything you're doing, all the time. They're fascinated by Meghan is in California right now, and you're here," Sorkin said, seemingly referencing the Duchess of Sussex's planned solo outing at the Paley Honors gala in Beverly Hills on Dec. 4. "And there's articles left and right about, you know, 'Why are you making, doing independent events? Why aren't you doing them together?' "
"Because you invited me, you should have known!" Prince Harry interjected, which made the audience laugh.
Sorkin then replied, "True. Is that normal for you? The second there's an article — she's in California, you're in New York — they say, 'Well, what is happening with these two, right?' Is that a good thing for you, in a way, that there's so much interest in you?"
"No, that's definitely not a good thing. Apparently we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just like, what?' " Prince Harry said with a laugh.
"It's hard to keep up with, but that's why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls," he continued. "Their hopes are just built and built, and it's like, 'Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,' and then it doesn't happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do."

By the way, Harry also talked at length about his Archewell Foundation Parents Network initiative, to help promote mental health among kids, which is apparently well received, if donations to Archewell are anything to go by.

Enjoy!

Prince Harry Addresses Speculation About Marriage with Meghan Markle: 'We've Apparently Divorced 10 Times'

Prince Harry took a question head-on about his relationship with his wife, Meghan Markle, at The New York Times' 2024 DealBook Summit, when asked how he handles speculation surrounding their relationship

It's been interesting reading some of the response to Harry's (and Andy Sorkin's) troll take-down.

Which by the way was spot on: a subset of the population absolutely are maniacally obsessed with everything H&M say or do, the media fabricate narratives about them out of thin air (including this "they're professionally separated / divorcing" BS), everything they and people they come in contact with say or do is twisted by those who are working tirelessly to take them down, and on and on it goes.

Having spent some time dipping in and out of the H&M Hatosphere in the media and elsewhere, there seem to be at least three archetypes (!) of the obsessive H&M hater:

The cynic money-maker: clicks on content about H&M are a big time money-spinner, and what they are actually doing or saying is inconsequential: where there's no story, we'll just make one up! Harry's said dozens of times that he's happy in the US and has no plans to return to the UK with his family, yet every day, dozens of 'articles' are written about how he's so miserable and desperate to return to the royal fold, and it's evil Meghan (and lately, Archie) who's blocking him bla-bla-bla. Harry and Meghan's marriage is rock solid, but because (just like William and Kate since their cancer-free Herbal Essences Summer Meadows video) they've done a few engagements solo, we've been inundated with thousands of screeching headlines about "they've professionally separated!", "they're divorcing", "Ho-Hum Boring Nonsense Headline About Harry and Meghan!" etc etc.

Harry is again spot-on in saying he's been the target of fabricated lies in the media all his life, and even though spouting lies about him and Meghan is now an industry in itself (probably contributing 0.5% of UK GDP at this point), it feels like deja vu.

The agenda-driven harasser: here we are talking culture wars stuff, Murdoch and DM stuff, Heritage Foundation stuff (authors of Project 2025, backers of Trumpverse, harassers of Harry via legal action over the complete non-story of his US visa application), let's take Harry and Meghan down because, of course, they are suing us, but mainly because they are liberal, possibly even progressive figures, and we have an agenda to eliminate such thinking in public life, and Western society. No-one needs a PhD to figure out that H&M support women and minorities, and that this is not an agenda the powers that be in some parts of the world wish to promote. So let's twist everything and make up lies where we need to - the recent US election was textbook in how such disinformation works wonders. 'Nuff said!

Then of course, there's the 'sad troll', as mentioned by Harry (and of course, I'm not claiming there are any on these boards!): people who take the happenings in the Royal Family so deeply personally that they have become consumed by them. Who may be triggered by what they perceive to be attacks on their own identity and sense of self-worth. Or who may just need a daily dose of b*tching about public figures to help them get through the day - who knows. They click on the negative headlines, and post hateful posts dissecting every little minutiae regarding H&M, desperately hoping for the breakdown of a marriage that looks as healthy as it gets, and for harm to come to two adults they don't know, and to their two young children. Retribution for their perceived near-capital offenses, most of which revolve around speaking out against being treated unfairly while in the RF several years ago, and bouncing.

There are probably more archetypes, but it's clear all of this has become an immensely high-stakes enterprise for so many people... M&H left ages ago (is it 5 years?), yet some folks just can't leave them alone!!

Old Troll here wondering if anyone on here really cares. Hands up in the air if you do. No can't see anyone. Just Irrelevance about irrelevant people..

It's a soap opera. Other soap operas are available, each to their own. Light entertainment.

I do wonder if the people that are so obsessed by hating Harry and Meghan because of some twisted jealous thing put the same effort into working on their own lives they may not need to be eaten up by the hatred?

Same for the RF haters then?

@BettyBlueSky

"
I never said that Murdoch spends his day calling editors about Harry. It is ludicrous.

Are you deliberately trying to put words into my mouth?

I’m now politely asking you to refrain."

You do know that this is how debates and posting on public forums works? 🙄

jouxlake · 07/12/2024 11:05

Trolls can also be superfans, they try to get reaction with their own style of toxicity, trolling conversations that don't fit the narrative in an effort to big up their idols. They have a myopic view of what and who a troll is..

We see it here often.

stripeyshutters · 07/12/2024 11:08

@IcedPurple I would also be embarrassed to be 💯 blind to someone's deeds and words due to the fact that they are the same colour, sex, nationality etc as myself. Obviously while people are anonymous on here the many other SM accounts reflects this. It's this weird idea that Britain and the RF were somehow knocked sideways by Meghan marrying into the family because of her status ( race and occupation and nationality) , that she was too good for the RF and she has played a blinder in leaving . It's so bizarre. It's usually from people who have little understanding of the British RF and institutions as well as the ordinary people. To me it also suggests that they feel under valued and feel that somehow the experience of one woman they don't even know raises their life up. I really don't get it.

I think the assumptions that there are teams and haterz is fundamentally misplaced.

Or at least it is in the UK, where people have been following and chatting about the RF for decades. And don't go near what the bottom feeders of the internet might be posting. (But might get a bit narked with a lazy assumption that any comment that is other than adulation must spring from an agenda-driven cesspit)

Thank goodness for Existential Nihilism, eh? I find it a great comfort when faced with such things.

That's the Sussex Squad for you.

Could you please highlight the hilarious response ? TIA .

Baital · 07/12/2024 16:46

I don't think, on this evidence, Harry has a promising career in stand up comedy 😂

Luddite26 · 07/12/2024 20:17

He will do better continuing the grifting than comedy. He has that down to a fine art.

Janiie · 08/12/2024 08:53

As always it is so ironic that he complains about gossip and scrutiny when he has made a career out of gossip and scrutinising his very own family.

Janiie · 08/12/2024 08:55

CitizenZ · 06/12/2024 10:36

Perhaps he should write a book about it, or a Netflix series, or an Oprah Interview.

OP, could I just take this opportunity to point out..

Are you using the word 'archetypes' deliberately here, or do you actually mean 'stereotypes'? They mean different things and Meghan Markle famously (or notoriously) got it wrong when she called her podcast Archetypes - it turned out that what she meant, and what she actually rabbited on about, were in fact stereotypes.

Archetypes are conceptual stock characters which feature in mythology across the world - first discussed by Carl Jung. Look it up!
