I am sure there will be someone doing a forensic look at the published finances at some point, apparently their biggest donation (250k) was to a foundation recently set up by Joe Biden's daughter.

They seem to have done an about turn on their original statement of who they would be collaborating with in the media. How quickly they changed their plans to pivot to the US tabloids, People, US weekly and the likes of Harpers Bazaar and Marie Clair.

4 years ago .. ...

"In the spring of 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be adopting a revised media approach to ensure diverse and open access to their work. This adjustment will be a phased approach as they settle into the new normality of their updated roles.
This updated approach aims to:

"-Engage with grassroots media organisations and young, up-and-coming journalists;

"-Invite specialist media to specific events/engagements to give greater access to their cause-driven activities, widening the spectrum of news coverage;

"-Provide access to credible media outlets focused on objective news reporting to cover key moments and events;

"-Continue to share information directly to the wider public via their official communications channels;

I suspect the donation to Joe Biden's daughter's charity is the usual bandwagon jumping, plus trying to surreptitiously, by using money other people have given to H&M's 'charity' (ie something they use for personal gain and PR, to garner favours from one of the most powerful families in the USA.

Well they backed the wrong political horse there.

FloofPaws · 03/12/2024 12:58

lol - except Trump can't stand them ... probably the one single thing that Trump and I actually have in common! 😉

I don't dislike them, they seem to be their own worst enemies though. I do find Harry's endless entitlement and moaning tiresome.

It is perfectly possible to like or dislike someone without their skin colour being a factor you know.
Otherwise all white people would like all white people and all black people would like all black people.

"Provide access to credible media outlets focused on objective news reporting to cover key moments and events"

Leaving aside the issue of how they'd judge credibility when they have so little, wouldn't "objective" reporting involve things they'd prefer to avoid being included?

Can't see it happening myself, so probably best to file this one under more PR nonsense

Edited to add howling at the donation to Biden's daughter though. I don't know what the lead time on the article was, but talk about backing the wrong horse

Are you clairvoyant, then?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 03/12/2024 20:42

You've done a lot of research on their media involvement, unusually. Not the Daily Mail, by any chance? 😀🤣
