Well well. Harry being recognised alongside Bill Gates, the mayors of Paris and London Anne Hidalgo and Sadiq Khan, British politician and climate advocate Ed Miliband, the President of the World Bank Ajay Banga...

Harry's work with Travalyst is lower key than his mental health advocacy or Invictus, but it's nice to see it being so recognised.

Congrats are due... but some folks are going to be hopping mad!

no, I don't get it. How can you think you like someone you don't know?

The whole RF board is full of posters who either like or dislike people they have never met.

The whole world is full of people who like or dislike people they have never met. Basing it on their actions. It had definitely started by the time of the first newspapers (1600s) but had been around for centuries before that (letters, pamphlets, preachers etc)

It's pretty key to elections and other campaigns; also fashions and sales, and indeed most of human social behaviour (and arguably all of the Internet)

It really does help though if people look at the most verifiable evidence, and assess sources against that, rather than making sweeping assumptions.

Notmoog · 14/11/2024 17:59

I guess lots of people do think like that but it's a bit of an alien concept to me.
i can admire someone's policies/ lifestyle etc. but couldn't comment on whether I actually liked / disliked someone unless i knew them.
I'm not easily swayed by public portayals

I base my opinion on Harry and his wife on their actions and words. All based on the 6 part NF reality show, several interviews they have given, podcast episodes recorded by them and released and autobiographical book.

I don't dislike them. I have no respect for them.

I think you'll find that many posters don't comment of liking/disliking (though there are regular accusations that if you ever criticise an action you must hate them). The assumption that there are camps, and that criticism is based on liking/disliking fails to take in to account the many posts (often from long-term royal watchers who've been in this topic since it was started back in 2011) that make it very clear that comments are sourced to specific actions or statements

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/11/2024 10:38

Common sense as usual, @MrsFinkelstein and @EdithWeston ...

Not just the RF board.

It is actually very common indeed to have an opinion on someone you only know from media appearances and PR. Gary Lineker, for example.

GiveMeSpanakopita · 15/11/2024 13:40

This is a very elastic definition of 'titan'.

Unless 'Titan' in this context refers to the Mars Bar rip-offs that Aldi sells.

NautilusLionfish · 15/11/2024 14:32

I have looked at all the names. A curious list. Very few hands on. Lots of monied ones. Very curious indeed.

I would also add to this list of primary source evidence the litany of voices of staff members bullied and harassed in the workplace by MM, before she came to the UK, whilst she was in the UK and still even to this day back in the US.

Add to that the repeated testonomies of close friends / colleagues she has 'markled' over the years.

Quite some 'character' to watch operate.

Wonder if she will run out of road? She still has a couple of 'friends' hanging on -Oprah for one who is really just incubating her investment for the next 'blockbuster' interview.....

CathyorClaire · 16/11/2024 20:49

Oprah for one who is really just incubating her investment for the next 'blockbuster' interview.....

You'd might think then she'd have been more mindful about preventing her arse from obliterating Rachel's boat at the Godmother launch but maybe she takes the long view.

Rachel undoubtedly has hoarded dirt to sell when the time's right and Oprah again undoubtedly will wish to laugh to the bank all over again...

Autumnalmists · 16/11/2024 21:43

It reads however as if it is his work. “ whilst I sought solutions….”
How can any adult with no relevant work credentials or having never had a job find solutions?

Edited

Yes thats really her pile of gold - the dirt she has hoarded - she has alluded to it on numerous occassions but she will need to be very strategic with it in both tone and timing to monetise appropriately.

Depends if she factors in and evaluates the emotional impact on her DCs of any tell-all.

TheMoonismadeofcheese · 17/11/2024 04:23

She’s making sure her childrenhave no relationship with the wider family so it won’t have any impact I’m guessing.

Princessfluffy · 17/11/2024 04:32

Great news for us all.
It's actually fine to use private jets many times a year and travel all you like.
Over consume massively in all areas of your life with the best of them.

Green credentials only enhanced by this behaviour. I'll certainly be doing my best to follow this morally impeccable example to improve the planet.

The award was to him, but it was because of Travelyst, not because of his personal life.

There's a distinct tendency, when people cut in and say something about over-consumption "well unless you're perfect, why should I pay any attention?" which is often an effective diversion.

I'm still not totally sure what Travelyst actually does - why is is counting number of internet searches for greener travel? How does it work with all the partners it has? Does it independently verify anything? Are there Travelyst-developed tools within the sites of its partners?

But the one thing it does do - if it can stay in the headlines - is remind people that climate effects matter. No matter whether you think the messenger is the biggest hypocrite on the planet, climate effects matter.

Luddite26 · 17/11/2024 08:02

@EdithWeston yes climate effects matters and if the message is being delivered by a hypocrite on the subject it is going to switch people off. We don't need a pointless man with his double standards we just need to take responsibility as individuals and as countries and pdq.

Princessfluffy · 17/11/2024 10:14

This award to Prince Harry is not just undeserved but seriously undermines action on climate change.

jouxlake · 17/11/2024 11:28

Not just Harry, but Bill Gates is even worse, owns 4 private jets which are always in the air, two superyachts, multiple mega mansions, he is forever being criticised for his stance on climate change while justifying his own hypocrisy and impact. He truly is a hypocritical weirdo and Harry is a hypocritical loser.

That Time magazine 'list' lacks as much credibility as Bill Gates and Harry do, I haven't read the article, so don't know who else is on it, but enough that those two are.

Princessfluffy · 17/11/2024 14:46

Sounds like it's the most nonsense list ever

Seems that's in keeping with the current climate change politics eg COP29 - yet again PH set up as 'the useful idiot' to undermine progress.

FloofPaws · 17/11/2024 15:16

Honestly, who comes up with these names ... they need to seek out real people who aren't just fog horners who are do as I say not as I do - PH is also one of the worlds biggest hypocrites... they need to seek out the true advocates ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️

Itoldyousoo · 17/11/2024 16:47

A dust stirrer!

Itoldyousoo · 17/11/2024 16:48

Do as I say not as I do.

Bachboo · 17/11/2024 16:50

Another bought award from a man who constantly uses private jets. Do as I say and not as I do springs to mind
