He looks rather distinguished with the beard , which appears to be remaining in place.
Was nice to see his Spencer cousins supporting him - I loved all of their dresses, and Beatrice as well.
A worthwhile cause supporting young people moving on and up out of homelessness.

The only way William will have Harry anywhere near him is if Harry bins Meghan.
They do not trust either of them and especially not Meghan. Not a chance will Meghan be allowed within a country mile of William or Charles

Or Catherine. But whatever happens on a personal level, and I can't see William forgiving Harry - and I don't blame him - Harry has shown himself to be a loose canon and vulnerable to manipulation by strong characters. He'll never be allowed to return to official duties and even if they have some contact with him, the family will always be wary. The lesson they've learned is that if you annoy Harry he'll put it in a book/do an interview/make a documentary to air his grievances. He can't be trusted ever again.

I'd think less of William if he completely 'made up' with Harry. Harry has crossed a line in terms of betrayal of his family and cruelty towards them.

CoffeeCantata · 29/10/2024 13:15

Oh sorry Needanewname42 - that first para above is a quote from your post and I didn't make that clear.

Apologies!

Needanewname42 · 29/10/2024 13:31

@CoffeeCantata no worries I hear you.

I just don't know. The brothers and Kate were so close. It seems sad they have lost that bond. They are in such a unique position too.

I do think Harry will return. But it will be a very slow process, and ONLY without Meghan.

Harry's had a massive wakeup call. It wouldn't surprise me if he already has the Palace helping him get out of the situation he is in.

I think someone might have nailed it that the King asked Harry to come over when he got diagnosed so they could talk briefly without Meghan.
There have been no leaks about what was actually said in that conversation regardless of how brief.
I think that was a test.

I can't remember the precise occasion, but I do think Harry leaked something about one of his meetings or phone-calls with KC and KC was very annoyed. Can't remember the details - but I think it just fed into the fear that any conversation or contact with Harry, however private and personal, is not secure.

Might have been mentioned by Harry on a chat show or interview...

Needanewname42 · 29/10/2024 14:04

Oh! Googled that one that was only November last year. Charles's birthday 🎂

Needanewname42 · 29/10/2024 14:12

That might be why he flew over to see Charles rather than a phone discussion. If Charles is now refusing to talk to him over the phone.

Samcro · 29/10/2024 16:20

there is a tv programme on tomorrow night about prince william ending homelessness

William called Harry the day after the OW unterview. Gayle King reported on the contents in her next broadcast.

theemptinessmachine · 30/10/2024 02:31

I believe it was a text that William sent Harry? It was shown to Meghan while filming for the documentary?

Any idea what was sent?

I'm sorry - I wish I'd paid more attention! I got the impression it was regarding KC's illness and treatment.

Bit of a coincidence - a text from “ your brother” ( as Meghan refers to William) arrives during filming !
I think KC was displeased because details of a video call from Archie and Lilibet were leaked .

Samcro · 30/10/2024 09:30

why shouldn't M refer to W as H's brother. he is his brother.
strange thing to nit pick about.

Baital · 30/10/2024 09:47

Well, I think the point was more along the lines of the text conveniently arriving during filming, the shocked and horrified expressions of H&M without revealing the content. Implying the content was awful, but not going as far as revealing it. A bit like the insinuations of racism, without stating what was said, by whom, in what context.

Almost as if they were making it up...

I refer to my husband's siblings by their names. It's a bit weird (not a big deal, but odd) to say "your brother" instead of "William".

I wonder if people who bought into the terrible rumours about Catherine feel stupid now that it's clear they were manipulated.

And I don't usually watch documentaries about the royal family, but I'm a bit intrigued about what Wills will say in this one so I might give it a go. Is it two episodes or just being shown twice?

Not nit picking but I have noticed that Meghan doesn’t give people their status eg Harry’s grandmother, Harry’s father , Harry’s brother . Referring to the POW as Kate despite the fact that everyone calls her Catherine .
Strikes me as odd especially as Meghan is very clear about her title and expectation that she will be called ma’am .

Yes - it happened/happens too consistently to be just a slip of the tongue. Meghan is either consciously or subconsciously unwilling to acknowledge their status in the RF hierarchy. H & M don't even seem to be able to call Catherine 'Catherine' - so I bet Meghan would choke on 'The Princess of Wales' !

namechange1975 · 30/10/2024 16:48

Sorry to break it to a lot of posters on here but the RF are a real life family not some kind of fantasy. What do you call people in your family you either go by their name or say my husband/brother/mum. Why would it be any different for the RF they aren't going to be calling each other the King/POW/DOE. It might be difficult for some of you to take but whatever you think of them H&M are part of that family and the opinions of people like us don't matter to any of them. For all we know they may be communicating in private or they may not but for some people on here to come out with Charles/william will never speak to Harry again that is ridiculous. That is what a lot of posters might want but this is a real life family with real relationships and none of us know what goes on behind closed doors.

Most of the time, most of them do use the formal terms when speaking in public.

For example, Prince Charles referred to the Queen or Her Majesty as his normal habit, only very occasionally referring to her as his mother or as Mummy (usually when making a familial point). Anne, Edward, Charles all the same. The late Diana, Fergie and Sophie all use formal titles in public (except for their own spouse and depending on circumstances their spouse's siblings)

So never using them is a bit of an outlier.

It might not matter to a US audience, but it's fairly noticeable in the UK.

namechange1975 · 30/10/2024 17:13

I don't think the majority of the UK would give a toss how they refer to members of their own family.

The point I was trying to make earlier was that Meghan is insistent on being called ma’am and Duchess but doesn’t give the same respect to others .
Whether you agree or not , it is usual to refer to members of the RF by their titles ( in public anyway). H and M’s message to the POW after her cancer announcement wished “ Kate” well yet hundreds of other messages referred to her as the POW.

Totally agree even Prince Phillip referred to The Queen, never my wife or Elizabeth.

Have you ever seen the clip years ago on stage when Charles referred to Mummy, she took it in fun but she certainly raised an eyebrow.

namechange1975 · 30/10/2024 22:14

If your own mother raised an eyebrow for you calling them mummy then it shows what a dysfunctional family they are. None of their actions are of a normal loving family.

She raised an eyebrow because he did it in public. In public she was the Queen. She was also from a more formal generation. However dysfunctional the RF may or may not be, I don’t think that referring to each other by their title is symptomatic of anything other than them deferring to each other’s seniority with regard to their jobs. It’s over reaching to say that none of their actions are those of a loving family

I agree but I think the raised eyebrow was not just because of the fact he said it in public. I remember watching the speech. He called her Mummy in a jokey way and the late Queen's raised eyebrow was very much part of that. She acknowledged what he said and the way he said it. It was a good humoured exchange.
