Just seen on the tv £100 per person entrance cost, would you pay this just to see a few rooms?

It will be booked out. It’s the first time it has ever been open to the public so it has rarity. I imagine tickets will go instantly.

It sold out within 24 hrs

My MIL is going with two of her sisters and is mega excited.

My Nana went to a ghillies ball there when she was young so I’m interested to see if it sounds still similar to how she described it.

ThePoshUns · 01/07/2024 22:57

£100?
That's steep.

ARichtGoodDram · 01/07/2024 23:09

It’s £95 for a guided tour of Buckingham palace so seems to be the price for that kind of thing.

The Balmoral tours are obviously popular. The new internal ones are completely sold out, and the afternoon tea add on to the general grounds and gardens tour (that’s not new) is also sold out for the whole summer.

If I had plenty of spare money, I'd go!

PrincessMee · 02/07/2024 00:02

That's top whack and there is a limit of 10 on a group. I believe they do 4 tours a day? Mind you I believe we should be charging foreigners admission fees to many galleries, museums etc. I've travelled the world and have paid admissions to many places where nationals get free admission.

So they can come and look at their own stuff?

Many museums and galleries don’t charge because they have had money from the lottery. Part of the deal of getting certain funding is that people can then access them for free.

Yes.

upinaballoon · 02/07/2024 06:54

Do you get a bit more than 'look at a few rooms'?

WinnieTheW0rm · 02/07/2024 09:20

It's the first time its been opened, so this is something of a pilot.

Feedback on whether the visitors thought they had an interesting and worthwhile tour would be part of it, wouldn't it?

I think they're doing the right thing in extending what's open.

RedRosesPinkLilies · 02/07/2024 09:44

I’ve been inside before - but just to see a ballroom. Not other rooms. It definitely wasn’t that expensive. It also wasn’t that impressive- surprisingly small and dark (a lot of wood panelling).
I’m not being mean about the place, it was interesting to see. The grounds are beautiful
Definitely wouldn’t pay £100

ARichtGoodDram · 02/07/2024 09:54

I think the gardens and grounds tour gets you a look in the ballroom?
it’s about £20 I think.

RedRosesPinkLilies · 02/07/2024 10:16

That must have been what it was
