Royal Ascot gets underway today with the King and Queen expected to attend, though it's yet to be confirmed if they will be there every day.

Last year I posted the carriage lists each day once they were released so happy to put them up again this year. The procession is at 2pm and you can watch live on ITV.

Also happy to answer any racing-related questions as we go along!

Clashing with tennis on BBC 2. What about the garden and the hair?!!? I ask myself.
I will be very happy for you to put up the list each day. Thank you.

Oops, I forgot that Sir Johnny Weatherby is no longer His Majesty's Representative. He was until 2020 but that role is now held by Sir Francis Brooke.

It's basically a non-exec director role on the Board at the racecourse with the aim of representing the Monarch's interests when it comes to the operation of the track - technically speaking Ascot Racecourse is part of the Crown Estate and racing takes place with the Monarch's permission.

Thanks Cavemum! I love the Ascot processions, always a chance that I might see my two favourite Royals, Lady Helen Taylor and Lady Sarah Chatto.

Lovely that Lady Gabriella is there today.

Looking forward to the hats!

Queen Camilla looking lovely in cobalt blue - wonder if it’s a hint as to who she’s rooting for in one of the big races 😜

Bit of a Ukrainian flag theme to the King and Queen’s outfits maybe 🤷‍♀️

Very kind of the King and Queen to include Lady Gabriella in a carriage.

gingercat02 · 18/06/2024 15:17

Gabrielle looked lovely. I hope she's OK. Camilla and Anne look very wintery. Liked Charles yellow waistcoat.

ajandjjmum · 18/06/2024 15:26

Thanks for the info @CaveMum and the photo @smilesy.

I think Camilla needs to have a word with her DH about overdoing things! Grin

Maddy Gurdeon.(Lady L-W) was a very good 3 day eventer in her day. I imagine her racing stables (she has one in Ireland, too) are more than a hobby. She owns a polo club, too

CaveMum · 19/06/2024 14:18

@gingercat02 yiure right I was being slightly unfair with the hobby comment, her stud farm is very successful at the sales and they’ve bred some good horses but with the overheads of having horses in training and stud fees to pay I doubt it’s particularly profitable as a business and, like so many others in racing, subsidised by money from elsewhere.

That said they still own a stake in their successful colt Too Darn Hot who is getting off to a really good start at stud with plenty of winners, so hopefully he will help fund the business.

It's not on ITV until the footie's over.

It’s on ITV4 at the moment, they’re switching back to the main channel for the big race at 4.25, and the following 3 races.

Is Bea wearing the same dress at Ascot that Sophie wore for the Garter Day ceremony?

Thank you! Same tomorrow I think.

ThePoshUns · 19/06/2024 18:48

Carol and Michael Middleton attended today. They seemed to be welcomed warmly by all the royal
Family who were there.

Yes, imagined if they borrowed dresses like us normal folk do Grin

Sophie looked sensational in that white frock (maybe paying homeage to her wedding gown?).

I also like what Zara has been wearing to! Even Fergie looked decent.
