Harry not attending the wedding

I was thinking that it might be hitting home how much Harry is missing out on now after not going to the Duke of Westminster's wedding.

This is life for him and Meghan now that they've cut themselves off and one of many events they aren't part of.

Wonder how Harry's feeling seeing the photos and whether he regrets it all, given that he and the Duke were good friends.

To be fair, he’s looking in at a mess. I’d rather not be a part of the sh*t show that is our Royal Family.

Really? from where I'm sitting the RF looks pretty strong, illness of two key members regardless.

LaMarschallin · 09/06/2024 09:49

Yeah I'm sure they're devastated they missed out on hob nobbing with a bunch of stuffed shirts.

Yes, I'm sure you're right.

I can't imagine moving to a new country, not speaking to my family or being involved with friends who were a big part of my life growing up. I know there are people who are happy to do this but I'd feel really sad and isolated. Friends are a big part of my life.

He thinks that everybody around him leaked stories to the press so by cutting everyone out, he probably thought that he could starve the press of content. In reality the couple attracted more press by doing interviews about the RF for money but I guess that was a price that he was willing to pay.

SilkFloss · 09/06/2024 09:55

He seemed perfectly happy "hobnobbing with a bunch of stuffed shirts" until he met Meghan.
I've not seen him crack a smile since.

But we all view it differently don’t we? I and many others think the Royal Family is out of touch and a web of deceit. Others think they’re the foundation pillar of being British. We just view them differently.
I doubt any of us really know what Harry is thinking. But it’s not as simple as he’s wrong and the RF are right. As with all families, they’ll be blame/poor choices on both sides.

He’s got his own family now. Why would he care about society weddings and garden parties?

Because they are old friends .

EmpressOfTheThread · 09/06/2024 10:01

I think the only "web of deceit" here is the one being spun by the Sussexes.
For money.

AnnieSF · 09/06/2024 10:01

As regards the RF being a mess. I believe that they are perceived now as being stronger than ever. Charles is turning out to be a solid King and his attitude to his illness is commendable. Camilla has shown her worth stepping up over those first few bleak months of this year. If anything they are viewed as being a more modern RF. William has flourished in his new role. The Sussexes are not missing at all as let's face it they were barely there. They didn't bring anything to the table except a hefty bill for a wedding.

The irony being that he and his wife have given so much to media outlets, of a private and controversial nature that he's ended up gifting a lot to the press, and remaining a controversial and entertaining figure.
However, I think that they both need it. They court celebrity and constantly want to be in the news. They need the clicks. Otherwise?. What are they?

AnnieSF · 09/06/2024 10:07

Two people with a squad of supporters who threaten people - the very antithesis of what they preach.

Stuffed shirts can throw some damned good parties when they get together. And I bet this was one.

Yep, all nasty little bullies, I'll bet the RF have plenty of dirt on H&M ... if I were the RF I'd leak it!

LaMarschallin · 09/06/2024 10:14

Sadly, I suspect a PP was right and they were devastated.
They seem to spend their time now endeavouring to hang out with the famous and also different "stuffed shirts".
What's Harry now but a wanabee stuffed shirt?

EmpressOfTheThread · 09/06/2024 10:15

I think the RF won't stoop to the level of Harry and Meghan. Let's face it, not many would.
KC, Camilla, William and the others are wise just to get on with the work and continue with their lives. It's probably much easier and more enjoyable without that pair anyway.

He's a Haz-been

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 10:17

At least they don't have to watch what they say around Haz that's going to appear in his next 'memoir.'

God, that must be so stressful. Imagine just commenting on the weather and the Sussexes claim on Netflix that the RF are climate change deniers.
Best not comment on the Spotted Dick.

I can imagine so many at that wedding were thinking and saying " thank god Hazza isn't here".

EmpressOfTheThread · 09/06/2024 10:24

Collective sigh of relief. Some relaxed conversation, and enjoyment of what looked like a really happy day.
Which was all about the bride and groom 👍

Yeah right!! Not sure where you've been looking but I've seen loads of happy pics of him and Meghan and shock horror of him smiling.

TBF You could also say the same of the RF looking in at the mess he's making of his life.

Nothing to choose between any of them IMO.

No argument here - it’s all a big mess of privilege.

He’s got his own family now. Why would he care about society weddings and garden parties?

If he really wanted to sever links with his past , why not give up their titles ? Why insist that their DC are Prince and Princess ?
They could be a little family living in their own bubble .
