It's lovely to see the King returning to more of his official duties after his chemo. This was his first joint engagement with the Prince of Wales since 2022 as the POW took over as Colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps.

William is watching that carbon footprint while working from home.

A nice snazzy video of William today, he really has such a handsome face.

Apaches are so cool.

They're wearing the same tie. Is it the Air Corps tie?

EDIT: Yes, I googled to answer my own question because I realised the internet exists.

We quite regularly get army helicopters flying at low level where I live. No idea why as we are not near any bases. I was once pursued round a field when walking the dog by an Apache. It was mildly alarming 😂

He has an imposing presence being so tall and has such a genuine sincere face. I love a bald man so the hair thing is not an issue for me. ☺️

I think it was Alison Pearson who said years ago when looking at a teenage WIlliam that Diana had bred height into the Windsors; and that she was like an elegant giraffe in a family of marmosets.

We're not far from Middle Wallop so we get Apaches, and also the Chinooks, over town most days. The Apaches are fierce looking.
The cafe at the army flying museum is nice as it looks over the airfield.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/05/2024 20:05

DD1 is delighted (and bemused) that we are now going to visit a place called Middle Wallop.

Yes we get Chinooks too. We are no where near Middle Wallop or anywhere else like that. Fuck knows where they are from 😂😂

JSMill · 13/05/2024 20:20

Middle Wallop is a great name.

shufflestep · 13/05/2024 20:44

There's also Over Wallop and Nether Wallop!

I thought DH was just joking.

Hedjwitch · 13/05/2024 20:55

To digress...the lack of taste thing. Its been two months now after a horrible Covid like illness( tests were negative). No smell and no taste is making me miserable. How long before it comes back?

CurlewKate · 13/05/2024 21:02

🤣6 posts to Harry!

BemusedAmerican · 13/05/2024 22:24

@Hedjwitch I lost smell for 3 months after flu. Tea tasted very strange. Another 3 months after Covid. I still don't have a full sense of smell but food tastes normal again.

So for work a man officially handed over a honorary title to his son?
Nice work if you can get it.

Read up on it and you will find there's a bit more to it than that.

Eta My village has a bit of a silly name though 😂😂

I am so impressed by William.
It can't be easy to switch from official role as POW to a quick change into army kit and then flying a helicopter.

I think this also gives a glimpse into the unseen work that William clearly does (for those who think all he does is the occasional show up at some charity or another).
He clearly has to keep up his flying hours to be able to turn up and take the controls on an army helicopter. He must do quite a bit of flying and keeping up to date with procedures etc on the quiet outside the public eye.

I’m not sure how much if any actual hands on flying the PoW does these days.

The Apache is AFAIK dual controlled, chances are there was a qualified instructor in the back of the Apache the other day who was pilot in charge, monitoring things closely if the PoW did any flying and they may well have done a fair bit of the handling.

Munchies798 · 15/05/2024 14:06

I think KC looks a bit grey and gaunt. Hope he's not doing too much too soon
