I feel really sorry for William

I'm not usually a fan , but I've been thinking about William. He must be absolutely reeling. His dad and his wife both have cancer. He doesn't talk to his brother and his mum died when he was young. I can't imagine the turmoil he is in, i hope he has good friends around him.

Just seen Charles on the news. He doesn't look well at all.

😥

Just goes to show that privilege doesn't buy happiness and good health. They have a lot going on at the moment and you wouldn't wish it on anyone would you.

This. Awful plus the scrutiny

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 28/03/2024 23:19

I feel very sorry for them.

diddl · 28/03/2024 23:42

Well Charles isn't well is he?

Whatever treatment he's having will probably gruelling at any age let alone in your 70s!

musthorse · 29/03/2024 00:58

Human nature? That was Piers Morgan's excuse.

Josette77 · 29/03/2024 02:00

I feel awful for him.

Faced with a wife and remaining parent with cancer is awful.

I can't imagine. He's doing an amazing job it appears at balancing it all.

I hope he has a lot of emotional support.

Well of course not, he's having chemotherapy 🙄

One of the great annoyances of chemotherapy is that for many, it makes then far more unwell than they ever were to begin with.

Cancer aside, I looked, and was perfectly well, fit and 'healthy' until I started chemo. Chemo debilitated my (mind) and body in ways you wouldn't imagine. I'm in my 40s and feel like my I have aged decades. Some days, even walking up the stairs is a herculean task). The king is much older than me, no wonder he looks so (and most certainly feels) far more unwell than he did before treatment.

ssd · 29/03/2024 12:12

No need for sarcasm @doublec .

Am well aware he is having chemo.

ssd was only making a observation, an accurate one at that

Yes and if you felt you aged decades in your 40s, what does chemo do to someone in their 70s, other than age them decades also?

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone beyond 60 getting the all clear from cancer. But that's just may limited experience.

I'd still hope Charles makes a full recovery for his, Camilla and Williams sake. Or he at least manages to keep it at arms length for a few years.

What a seriously shit time for the family.

Londonrach1 · 29/03/2024 17:36

Totally agree. I agree I hope he has good friends who happy to listen to him

Personally I think it's time to drop all this made-up titled nonsense, they are human beings like the rest of us, complete with vulnerabilities to illness & with more than their fair share of family dysfunction. Be the alien 👽

My mother in law had chemo after both bladder and bowel cancer. She recovered and lived a long life.

Needanewname42 · 30/03/2024 02:29

@GoldenSpraint @Theraininspainfalls
It is good to hear positive cancer stories. I seem to know a ridiculous number of people who's cancer has been found too late, or has returned after a few short years.

Theraininspainfalls · 30/03/2024 06:06

That’s not surprising when it’s so hard to see a doctor. My GP has a big notice saying that patients are only allowed to mention one symptom at each appointment. What sort of approach is that? Surely it’s vital to get the whole picture of someone’s health. Several symptoms together or something that has developed over time give a more accurate diagnosis surely? I was trained in a number of different alternative therapies. I was taught to notice everything. The way someone walks in a room, their tone and body language, what they don’t say as much as what they do. To really listen and observe. Now it’s , ‘get on with it, get tot the point, and here’s a drug’. I find it frightening.
Doctors don’t refer to notes anymore , don’t know the background to someone’s health and don’t really listen . I wanted a copy of the result of some blood tests I had recently and have to fill in a form and wait 30 days to get them. The doctor didn’t seem to want to discuss them on the phone in any detail and I can’t get an appointment.

Janehasamane · 30/03/2024 08:01

I actually think thr way William and Kate have behaved over her surgery, is all about the children.

it was on the first statement, they wished normalcy for the kids and privacy and it was on her video message, she was trying to protect her kids

they Maybe senior royals but they are parents first and foremost, to three young children who must be scared by what’s happening and they are trying to manage that.

hence why they tried to stop public speculation and also I suspect are not giving the full story, it isn’t just about privacy, it is about 3 children with a mother who is ill and supporting them through that, it an age aappropriate way.

i feel sorry for them both, because not only were people making up heinous rumours, they were also proclaiming they were entitled to know as they apparently pay for her. Its disgusting and completely ignores the fact these people are both parents with a young family who need to be protected and supported,

MaturingCheeseball · 30/03/2024 08:23

Absolutely @Janehasamane . I really couldn’t compute the “we pay” gang. Ridiculous not to mention very unkind argument. I was thinking, I hope these same people were demanding information following Archie’s birth, because at that point we were “paying” for Meghan.

Very true but I do recall so many of that ilk stating that she didn't need to. Different rules for different folks. There are a great deal of articles, videos etc out there about Meghan and her joining the Royal Family. She has a very expressive face and you can tell how excited she was about joining them. It was obvious in photographs and videos. She thought she was a major attraction and to be fair she was at the time. People were happy Harry had got married. It's clear though that the protocols of the RF did not suit her and she soon realised there was a hierarchy and her place in it. Discontent settled in and the rest is history. Meghan still has that face and she finds it difficult to hide her true feelings if only for a second or two. She has to be the centre of attention even if it is only her mother or Harry taking it.
